摘要: A selective ion sensitive electrode is so constructed that an ion exchanger sensitive to a specific ion is formed on a metal electrode, an electric conductive resin electrode or a chlorinated metal electrode to which a signal wire is connected so as to maintain a stable electric connection between the signal wire and the ion exchanger over a long period of time. A layer of a silane coupling agent is used between the electrode member and ion exchanger.

摘要: In an apparatus for measuring ion activity, a reference electrode and an at least one test electrode project through an opening in a rotating plate while a cup receiver which holds a cup filled with the test solution is lifted from a disengaged position into a position where the cup receiver engages and is rotated by the rotating plate while the electrodes project into the solution. A measuring circuit connected to the electrodes measures the ion activity with the use of a reverse logarithmic amplifier.

摘要: A method for measuring ion concentration of a sample solution by detecting a potential difference generated between an ion electrode and a reference electrode which are dipped in the sample solution, while calibrating or compensating variations in a reference point and a span due to a drift, fluctuations of temperature, humidity, voltage supply source and the like with the aid of at least two standard solutions having known ion concentrations. The method comprisesa step for detecting potential differences E.sub.1 and E.sub.2 corresponding to the known ion concentrations a.sub.1 and a.sub.2 of the first and second standard solutions, respectively;a step for calculating a proportional constant c in accordance with the following equation; ##EQU1## a step for detecting a potential difference E.sub.x corresponding to an unknown ion concentration a.sub.x ;a step for calculating the unknown ion concentration a.sub.x in accordance with an equation of ##EQU2## with the aid of the detected potential value E.sub.1 or E.sub.2, known ion concentration a.sub.1 or a.sub.2 and calculated constant c which have been stored in a memory and the detected potential value E.sub.x. During the measurement the reference point can be simply recalibrated by detecting a potential difference E'.sub.1 or E'.sub.2 of the first or second standard solution and the newly detected potential value E'.sub.1 or E'.sub.2 is used for calculating unknown ion concentrations of subsequent sample solutions.

摘要: A scanning tunnel microscope is arranged by a combination of an optical microscope and a tunnel scanning unit. The scanning tunnel unit includes a probe held to be spaced apart from a sample placed on a sample table by a predetermined interval in an axial direction, and an actuator for axially moving the sample table and the probe to a tunnel region and relatively and three-dimensionally driving the sample table and the probe. An objective lens and the probe are arranged such that the axis of the probe of the scanning tunnel unit is aligned with an optical axis of the objective lens of the optical microscope. The sample and the probe are axially moved and brought into the tunnel region, and the sample is scanned in its surface direction while the sample and the probe are finely moved in the axial direction and a tunnel current is kept constant, thereby performing an STM observation of an observation surface of the sample. The objective lens of the optical microscope is axially moved to obtain an in-focus state, and the field of the STM observation surface is observed as an optical microscopic image through an eyepiece lens.

摘要: A compound chemically sensitive element comprises a chemically sensitive assembly which is selectively sensitive to a specific ion or a specific substance in a material to be examined, and a pH sensor having an insulated gate field effect transistor structure, both of which are separately manufactured. The chemically sensitive assembly and the insulated gate of the pH sensor are electrochemically connected together by a conductive resin, thus improving the durability and the selectivity of the element. In this manner, limitations imposed upon the manufacture of MOS pH sensor is removed, permitting a wide variety of chemically sensitive films to be used.
