摘要: A method and apparatus is disclosed for manufacturing a composite material object from composite material tapes. The apparatus includes a tape delivery unit storing and providing a plurality of fabric tape material spools, compaction or take-up mechanisms, an inline tape impregnation system and curing radiation sources. The apparatus contains compaction and resistance rollers, both connected to a robotic arm. The apparatus is operative to place compacted fabric tapes on top of each other to form a desired composite material object while traveling in a predetermined path using the robotic arm. The tape placement and compaction is executed without using a mandrel or mold.

The machine uses a combination of a large size main material dispensing head with a satellite lightweight material dispensing head. A motion system could move each material dispensing head along a path identical to the other dispensing head path or move it along a path different from the path of the other material dispensing head. Such complementary movement supports increase in machine throughput.

摘要: Described is a method for manufacturing 3D objects from woven fabric-based composite materials. The method includes a movable mold used to manufacture a complete object by tiling the object, instead of using a single monolithic mold. The method includes using an easily configurable digital mold matrix for the tiling mentioned above and a calibration unit configured to set the desired shape of a strip of the digital mold matrix surface. A digital file provides the information required for building the digital mold surface. A movable and adjustable pins matrix form a configurable support surface of the digital mold matrix. The configurable support surface of the digital mold matrix receives and supports the material from which the 3D object is built while tiling.

摘要: A method employs a first polymeric material to deposit first and second pattern layers laterally shifted from each other such that laterally shifted pattern layers form between them an empty volume with a variable cross-section that varies along with the first and second pattern layers. A second polymeric material is cast in the empty volume between the first and second pattern layers to cast a complex-shaped 3D object identical in shape to the empty volume between the first and second pattern layers. Radiation is applied to cure the first and second polymeric materials. The first polymeric material is a water breakable material composition including acrylamide, methacrylamide, acrylate, acrylic acids, and acrylic acid salts, hydroxy(meth)acrylate, carboxy(meth)acrylate, acrylonitrile, carbohydrate monomers, methacrylate and polyfunctional acrylics.

The method includes the use of an extrusion nozzle configured to extrude the composite material, including a multistrand filament with a thixotropic acrylic matrix material surrounding the multistrand filament. Extruding a 3D object surface segment spanning in the air over at least a segment of a discontinuous work surface and operating concurrently a source of curing energy to pin and enhance the strength of a 3D object surface segment spanning in air. The 3D object extruded surface segment spanning in the air is sufficiently rigid and maintains its shape without the use of a mandrel.
