    Abstract: A high capacity magnetic filter separates diamagnetic and/or paramagnetic substances from fluid streams. Diamagnetic solid substances are magnetized under an external magnetic field through coordinated interaction of diamagnetic solid substances with an inducement paramagnetic material (IPM). The magnetic filter serves as a separation zone created by the presence of IPM and magnets that are shielded from the IPM by non-magnetic sleeves or partitions. The IPM in the void volume between the magnets affords large surface area onto which diamagnetic and paramagnetic materials can contact and be attracted to. The relative position and distance of the magnetic source, such a magnetic bar or electromagnet, to the solid mixture of diamagnetic and IPM are adjusted to induce sufficiently strong magnetism in the diamagnetic solids which causes the diamagnetic solids to be attracted by the magnetic field as well. Both diamagnetic and paramagnetic substances can be removed from a liquid or gas.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a helmet having the driving video record of 360 degrees, comprising: a helmet; the first and second video cameras; and the control module. The first and second video cameras are respectively set at the horizontal, vertical or oblique diagonal positions of the helmet. The video recording angle of view whereof are both greater than 180 degrees. The control module is set in the interior of the helmet to receive and process the images of the first and second video cameras and provide electricity. Through the first and second video cameras are set at the diagonal positions of the helmet respectively and the video recording angle of view of them are both greater than 180 degrees, the 360 degree full image surrounding the helmet can be captured, shot, and recorded completely without the problem of recording dead angle of view.

    Abstract: The audio outputs 29 of each of a plurality of telecommunications terminals in a packet switched system are synchronized by having each terminal transmit a stream of packets whose rate, and therefore duration is determined according to a clock generator 25, and is thus indicative of the rate at which the terminal is generating its audio output. The signals from each terminal are transmitted to a common server. For each terminal, the server uses a master dock to compare the duration of the packet stream with an expected duration, and calculates an offset value which is returned to the respective terminal. Each terminal stores the offset value it receives (20) and uses it to adjust the output of its clock generator 25 so that its operations can be synchronized to the server. This allows all the terminals' digital-to-analog conversion processes to be synchronized such that all their analog outputs are coordinated, allowing co-located acoustic outputs to be synchronous. A second embodiment maintains synchronization by maintaining the volume of the data buffer 23 serving the audio output 29 within predetermined limits.

    Abstract: A hand tool includes a body and a ratchet head which is pivotably connected to the body. A pawl and a controller are connected to the body. The ratchet head is engaged with the pawl by first and second engaging teeth. The controller has a recess which has two curved faces. The controller has two grooves and each groove has a first stop face and a second stop face. The first and second stop faces contact the two curved faces. The pawl is not moveable, and the first engaging teeth are engaged with the second engaging teeth so as to fix the ratchet head relative to the body at an angle. When the two curved faces are moved to face the two grooves, the controller is moved, and the ratchet head is pivotable relative to the body.

    Abstract: Extractive distillation for recovering aromatic hydrocarbons employs an extractive distillation column with a novel overhead system including a partial condenser. The process enables (i) efficient removal of heavy non-aromatics, particularly C8 naphthenic compounds, from the EDC bottom stream to increase the purity of aromatic products, especially of the mixed xylenes and (ii) reduction (or better control) of benzene loss to the raffinate product stream to maintain its quality as a gasoline blend stock and, as a result, enhance benzene recovery in the aromatic products. Feedstock includes a full-range feedstock, such as pyrolysis gasoline, or a narrow-range feedstock, such as reformate.

    Abstract: A programmable metallization device comprises a first electrode and a second electrode, and a first dielectric layer, a second dielectric layer, and an ion-supplying layer in series between the first and second electrodes. In operation, a conductive bridge is formed or destructed in the first dielectric layer to represent a data value. During read, a read bias is applied that is sufficient to cause formation of a transient bridge in the second dielectric layer, and make a conductive path through the cell if the bridge is present in the first dielectric layer. If the bridge is not present in the first dielectric layer during the read, then the conductive path is not formed. Upon removal of the read bias voltage any the conductive bridge formed in the second dielectric layer is destructed while the conductive bridge in the corresponding other first dielectric layer, if any, remains.
