    摘要: A method is provided of operating an internal combustion engine comprising subjecting a hydrocarbon fuel of relatively low octane number to conversion at elevated temperatures by passing it through a reaction zone containing a fuel system of unidirectional, e.g., substantially parallel, channels with rigid walls, e.g., a monolith or series of monoliths, at least the internal surfaces of which contain an aluminosilicate zeolite catalyst having a Constraint Index in the approximate range of about 1 to 12 and a silica/alumina ratio in a range of about 20 to 5000, e.g., ZSM-5 preferably containing gallium or zinc, such that the fuel leaving said channels has an increased octane number, and passing the fuel to the combustion chamber of said engine.

    摘要: The lower monohydric alcohols and their ethers, especially methanol and dimethyl ether, are converted to a hydrocarbon mixture mostly ethylene, propylene and mononuclear aromatics, by co-feeding elemental oxygen and said alcohol and/or ether to a catalytic reactor that contains as catalyst a composite of antimony oxide and a crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite such as ZSM-5. Co-feeding elemental oxygen effectively inhibits the elution of antimony from the catalytic reactor.

    摘要: This invention provides a novel catalyst exemplified by cobalt-exchanged ZSM-5. The catalyst has unusual resistance to irreversible steam degradation. After long-term exposure to steam, it may be regenerated by sulfiding. The invention further provides a process for converting, in the presence of steam, compounds subject to catalytic conversion by acidic catalysts, including a process in which steam is inherently produced. The latter conversion is exemplified by the formation of higher carbon-numbered hydrocarbons from the lower alcohols or ethers thereof.
