摘要: The invention relates to a multilayered material sheet comprising a consolidated stack of unidirectional monolayers of drawn ultra high molecular weight polyolefine. The draw direction of two subsequent monolayers in the stack differs. Moreover the thickness of at least one monolayer does not exceed 50 μm, and the strength of at least one monolayer is comprised between 1.2 GPa and 3 GPa. The invention also relates to a ballistic resistant article comprising the multilayered material sheet and to a process for the preparation of the ballistic resistant article.

摘要: The invention relates to a method for producing a highly oriented, high molecular weight polymer tape. The method comprises forming and compression-molding a polymer powder bed at a temperature below the melting point of the polymer to form a sheet; at a temperature below the melting point of the polymer, rolling and stretching the sheet in a calendar unit to form a partially oriented polymer web; at a temperature below the melting point of the polymer, drawing the partially oriented polymer web in a drawing unit; and, optionally repeating step c) to form a more fully oriented non-fibrous high molecular weight polymer tape, the method being discontinuous in that the ingoing line speed of one of the method steps b) to d) differs from the outgoing line speed of the preceding method step.

The invention also relates to a process for the preparation of the material sheet, and to a ballistic resistant article comprising the material sheet. A ballistic resistant article comprising the material sheet exhibits excellent antiballistic properties.

摘要: The invention relates to a multistage drawing process for the drawing of polymeric elongated objects, containing a first drawing stage and a final drawing stage and optionally containing at least one intermediate drawing stage subsequent to the first drawing stage and prior to the final drawing stage, comprising in the following order the steps of: a. providing a polymeric elongated feed object; b. drawing the elongated object in the first drawing stage with a draw ratio of between 30% and 90% of the maximum drawing ratio achievable in the first drawing step; c. optionally drawing the elongated object in the at least one intermediate drawing stage with a draw ratio of between 30% and 90% of the maximum drawing ratio achievable in the at least one intermediate drawing step; d. drawing the elongated object in the final drawing stage with a draw ratio of at most 5, preferably of at most 3.

摘要: A preformed sheet is provided with at least two mono-layers, each mono-layer containing unidirectionally oriented fibers having a tensile strength of at least about 1.2 GPa and a tensile modulus of at least 40 GPa, and a binder, with a fiber direction in each mono-layer being rotated with respect to the fiber direction in an adjacent mono-layer. A separating film is provided on both outer surfaces, the separating film having a porosity of between 40 and 90%. Assemblies and articles with such preformed sheet offer a substantially higher ballistic protection level at a certain weight. An assembly of at least two such sheets and a flexible ballistic-resistant article which includes such an assembly are also provided.
