Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a protective coating composition for a hard surface, wherein the composition comprises an organic solvent and a polysiloxane having the general formula (I), wherein: R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7 and R8 are independently an alkyl group having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms; Y and Z are independently a divalent linking group selected from the group consisting of urea, urethane, oxygen atom, sulfur atom and alkylene having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms; A, B, L and M are independently a divalent slinking group selected from the group consisting of alkylene having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms, with the proviso that if the combined linking groups formed by -A-Y-L- and -M-Z—B— are independently an alkylene, then the alkylene is independently different from ethylene; n is an integer from 5 to 1500; and m and p are independently an integer from 1 to 3. In another aspect, the present disclosure is directed to a method of reducing contamination from a hard surface.

Abstract: Siloxane-based gel adhesives with improved shear holding power are prepared from curable compositions. The curable compositions include a siloxane fluid with a viscosity of at least 1,000,000 centiPoise, a siloxane-(meth)acrylate co-polymer, and siloxane tackifying resin. The curable compositions can contain an initiator or can be cured by e-beam radiation without an initiator. The siloxane-(meth)acrylate copolymer is the reaction product of a reaction mixture of an ethylenically unsaturated siloxane-containing macromer, an alkyl (meth)acrylate monomer; optionally a reinforcing monomer, and an initiator.

Abstract: Anti-icing stacks for protecting an aerodynamic surface are described. In some embodiments, an anti-icing stack includes an anti-icing layer, an elastomeric erosion protection layer, and an additional layer. The erosion protection layer is disposed between the anti-icing layer and the additional layer. The additional layer has a thickness greater than the thickness of the erosion protection layer and a tensile modulus of no more than the tensile modulus of the erosion protection layer. The additional layer may be a foam adhesive layer.

Abstract: A composition that includes an amino-functional compound having at least one silane group, a fluorinated compound represented by formula Rf{—X—[Si(Y)3-x(R)x]y}z, and a non-fluorinated organic solvent having a flashpoint of at least 40° C. A method of making a treated article having a metal surface using a composition that includes an amino-functional compound having at least one silane group, a fluorinated compound represented by formula Rf{—X—[Si(Y)3-x(R)x]y}z, and an organic solvent having a flashpoint of at least 40° C. is also disclosed. Another method includes treating the metal surface with a primer composition including an amino-functional compound having at least one silane group to provide a primed metal surface and subsequently treating the primed metal surface with a treatment composition including a fluorinated compound represented by formula Rf{—X—[Si(Y)3-x(R)x]y}z. The compositions each include up to one percent by weight of an organic solvent having a flashpoint up to 40° C.
