A vehicle control device which is applicable to a vehicle brake device, controls the pressure increasing control valve and the pressure decreasing control valve so that an actual servo pressure detected by the servo pressure sensor becomes a target servo pressure and sets a control dead zone in which a control of the pressure increasing control valve and the pressure decreasing control valve is prohibited to be an area which has a first predetermined width from the target servo pressure when a normal braking operation is performed and sets the control dead zone to be an area which has a second predetermined width, wider than the first predetermined width when the brake actuator executes the braking control which accompanies a brake fluid pumping back control, wherein the brake fluid supplied to the wheel cylinder is returned to the master cylinder by pumping back operation of the built-in pump.

The vehicle control apparatus gives a control current to the electromagnetic control valve at a start of energization of the electromagnetic control valve as a start current value smaller by a first determined amount than an open/closed state change-over reference current value which is necessary for changing over a state of the electromagnetic valve and after the start of energization of the electromagnetic control valve, the control current gradually increases with a smaller increase inclination than an increase inclination of an increase control of the control current which gives priority to a control responsibility of the electromagnetic control valve and finishes a gradual increase of the control current applying to the electromagnetic control valve, when the control current exceeds a finish current value which is larger than the open/closed state change-over reference current value.

The hydraulic pressure control device has an idle region, and is provided with a control portion, and a correcting portion which, in cases when the reaction time of the actual pressure to pressure increasing control or pressure decreasing control exceeds a predetermined threshold time, corrects a control current towards the side in which the flow-rate is increased. In cases when a judging portion has judged that the pressure increasing control is in the idle area, the correcting portion applies, as the threshold time, an idle threshold time set to a value different from the threshold time that in cases when the judging portion has not judged that the pressure increasing control is in the idle area. Furthermore, in cases when the reaction time of the actual pressure to the pressure increasing control exceeds the idle threshold time, the correcting portion corrects the control current.

A pressure differential generating portion generates a predetermined pressure differential by moving a master piston by a drive pressure generating portion after an execution of an advancement control to advance the master piston so that the stroke position of the master piston is within an advanced side area. A second electromagnetic valve control portion places the second electromagnetic valve in an open state for a period including at least a portion of the period of time in an execution period of the advancement control.
