The disclosure also relates to a lubricating oil base stock and lubricating oil containing the composition, a multifunctional functional fluid containing the composition, and a method for improving solubility of an ionic liquid in a lubricating oil by using as the lubricating oil a formulated oil including a lubricating oil base stock as a major component, and an ionic liquid alkylammonium salt cobase stock, or an ionic liquid imidazolium salt cobase stock, as a minor component.

摘要： Provided is a block copolymer having an “A” block of a functionalized hydrocarbon moiety including one or more functional end groups selected from the group consisting of: epoxides, amines, acids, acid chlorides, acid anhydrides, halogens, vinyl or vinylidene double bond, aromatic rings and thiols, and a “B” block of a functionalized polyether moiety including one or more functional end groups selected from the group consisting: epoxides, amines, acids, acid chlorides, acid anhydrides, halogens, vinyl or vinylidene double bond, aromatic rings and thiols. The end group of the polyether moiety is different than the end group of the hydrocarbon moiety, and the hydrocarbon moiety and the polyether moiety are copolymerizable therewith. Preferably, the hydrocarbon moiety is a poly-α-olefin and the polyether moiety is a polyalkylene glycol.

摘要： The synthesis of high performance polyvinyl ether (PVE) synthetic fluids using a Lewis acid based cationic polymerization process is disclosed. The polyvinyl ether fluid have repeating vinyl ether units of the general formula —[CH2—CH (O—R)]n, wherein R is comprised of a branched or linear alkyl group having at least 4 carbon atoms and n is a whole number representing the average number of repeating units in the polyvinyl ether. The resulting PVE fluids exhibit excellent lubricant properties, similar to poly-alpha olefins (PAOs), but the PVE fluids have the benefit of higher polarity than PAOs and thus have better solubility and dispersity of polar additives.

There is also another process for making a poly(alkyl epoxide) using an initiator. There are also poly(alkyl epoxides). There is also a lubricant composition having a first lubricant base stock of one or more poly(alkyl epoxides) and a second lubricant base stock different than the first lubricant base stock.

摘要： The synthesis of high performance polyvinyl ether (PVE) synthetic fluids using a Lewis acid based cationic polymerization process is disclosed. The resulting PVE fluids exhibit excellent lubricant properties, similar to poly-alpha olefins (PAOs), but the PVE fluids have the benefit of higher polarity than PAOs and thus have better solubility and dispersity of polar additives.
