    摘要: The application discloses a gel-forming composition based on (a) water, (b) a water-soluble cellulose mixed ether having at least one nonionic substituent from the group comprising hydroxyalkyl and alkyl and at least one anionic phosphorus-containing substituent, and (c) a salt containing a cation which is at least divalent. The phosphorus-containing substituent is a phosphonoalkyl group or a p-alkylphosphinoalkyl group. The application also relates to a process for the preparation of a gel from this composition, to the reversible reversing of the gel by the addition of an agent which complexes the cation, e.g. in the case of Al.sup.3+ ions, Fe.sup.3+ ions, Zr.sup.4+ ions or ZrO.sup.2+ ions, by means of an amount of fluoride ions, and to the use of this gel-forming compostion in the secondary production of petroleum.

    摘要: This invention relates to an improvement in the process for the manufacture of water-adsorbing but at least partially water-insoluble cellulose ethers in which cellulose is alkalized in a liquid reaction medium and reacted with an etherification agent in a manner such that an at least preponderantly water-soluble cellulose ether would be obtained in the case of a mere etherification process and in which, prior to, simultaneously with, or after the etherification process, a reaction is effected with a crosslinking agent which is polyfunctional towards cellulose in an alkaline reaction medium,The improvement comprising employing bis(acrylamido)-acetic acid as the crosslinking agent.

    摘要: Surfactant mixtures made from 5 to 80% by weight of an ether sulfonate, 5 to 80% by weight of an alkyl or alkylphenol polyglycol ether and 10 to 80% by weight of an alkanesulfonate, petroleumsulfonate or alkylbenzenesulfonate. This combination of surfactants produces stable, aqueous solutions or dispersions which are highly suitable for surfactant flooding in tertiary oil recovery since these aqueous surfactant solutions or dispersions form microemulsions with the oil even at high salinities.

    摘要: Disclosed is a process for the chemical modification of a water-soluble cellulose ether, which comprises reacting the ether with a chloroformic acid ester in an aqueous organic medium containing alkali hydroxide, whereby the cellulose ether is rendered at least partially insoluble in water. The modified cellulose ether may be easily dispersed in water and redissolved to form a smooth solution of the original water-soluble ether by adding sufficient alkali to the dispersion to reuse its pH to at least about 11, preferably to about 12.

    摘要: This invention relates to an improvement in the process for the production of water-adsorbing, but largely water-insoluble, cellulose ethers, in which cellulose is alkalized in the presence of alkali and isopropanol as a reaction medium and is so reacted with an etherification agent that by etherification only a water-soluble cellulose ether is produced, and in which process a modification agent which is able to react with the still free hydroxyl groups of the cellulose anhydro glucose groups in an alkaline reaction medium is reacted before, during, or after the etherification, the improvement comprising effecting the etherification of cellulose to carboxymethyl cellulose, carboxymethyl hydroxyethyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl cellulose, or methylhydroxyethyl cellulose, reacting with the modification agent in the presence of 0.8 to 7.5 parts by weight of isopropanol, based upon the cellulose weight, and employing a modification agent being one of the formulae ##EQU1## R.sub.1 in formula I being hydroxyl, or an acylamino or etherified carbamino group, and R.sub.2 in formula I being hydrogen or a carboxyl group.
