Since it has less toxicity and irritation against the human body and can dissolve in a neutral solution of pH 6-8 in the form of molecular dispersion, the surfactant is especially suitable for use in the field of cosmetic and foodstuff industries.

An alkali metal hydroxide and water solution having incorporated therein nitrogen-containing anionic surfactants combined with a polyhydric alcohol to form the active concentrate of a composition for cleansing food residue and soil from preheated surfaces of cooking ovens, grilles and the like. The particular anionic surfactants present in the concentrate have the important function of inhibiting the corrosive action of the concentrate on the human skin and mucuous tissues and consist specifically of the sodium salts of the condensation product of coconut fatty acids with a complex of polypeptides and amino acids derived from proteins (Maypon SK), of a complex of polypeptides and amino acids derived as a hydrolysate from proteins (Polypeptide No. 37) and of an amido methylated lauric acid (Sodium N-Lauroyl Sarcosinate Sarkosyl NL-97). The concentrate may include a thickening agent to render it surface adhering and additionally may be packaged in an aerosol container for expulsion therefrom by a propellant with or without a foam-forming and foamstabilizing agent.

A unit dose detergent pack is disclosed. The unit dose detergent pack includes a pouch formed from a water-soluble film and an opacified liquid detergent composition releasably disposed within the pouch. The opacified liquid detergent composition includes a plurality of neutralizing agents including more than 50 mole percent of sodium hydroxide and a remainder alkanolamine based on a total of 100 mole percent of the sodium hydroxide and the alkanolamine together. The composition further includes a fatty acid and water. A weight ratio of the sodium hydroxide and the fatty acid is from about 0.3:1 to about 0.8 to 1. The opacified liquid detergent composition is free of a microplastic opacifier and has a turbidity of at least 250 NTUs measured utilizing a turbidity meter at about 24° C. Also disclosed is an opacified liquid detergent composition and a method of making the same.
