There is provided with a method of manufacturing a resin product. The method includes preparing a resin substrate that is provided with, in a first portion on a surface of the resin substrate, a first patterned layer of a first material. The method also includes forming a second patterned layer of a second material in a second portion on the surface of the resin substrate, by irradiating the second portion with ultraviolet light and then subjecting the second portion to electroless plating.

There is provided with a method of manufacturing a resin article having a plating layer. A portion of a surface of a resin article is selectively irradiated with ultraviolet rays. The resin article irradiated with ultraviolet rays is treated using an alkaline solution. An electroless plating catalyst is applied to the surface of the resin article treated using the alkaline solution. A plating layer is selectively deposited on a portion of the surface of the resin article that is not irradiated with ultraviolet rays by submerging the resin article applied with the electroless plating catalyst in an electroless plating solution.

There is provided with a plating method. At least a portion of a surface of a resin product is irradiated with ultraviolet light. An alkali processing is performed on the resin product with an alkali solution. An electroless plating catalyst is applied to the portion of the surface of the resin product which is irradiated with the ultraviolet light in the irradiating. This applying includes processing the resin product with a solution containing a palladium complex having a positive electric charge at least at a part of the palladium complex. Electroless plating is performed on the resin product.
