One end of the suppressor contacts the tube wall. The controller is for dilating and constricting the iris, thus controlling the size of the illuminated spot, wherein the iris controller is comprised of a hollow cylinder, rotatable relative to the housing. The cylinder has an inner ring and an outer ring, wherein the inner ring and outer ring are connected by a plurality of braces and vented spaces are present between each of the braces. Advantageously, the vented spaces help keep the outer ring cool, thus facilitating the operation of the iris controller by a user.

    摘要: An imaging system has an optical assembly that can be removably attached to an elongated housing for insertion therewith into a narrow orifice. The housing has an imager such as a CCD array disposed therein. The housing and the optical assembly are secured together by a bayonet connector that is centered on the distal end of the housing. The housing has a plurality of light guides for transmitting light energy through the distal end of the housing via ports that are radially more distant from the axis of the housing than the outermost surface of the bayonet connector. The optical assembly has passages that align with the light guides of the housing, so that light energy passes from the light guides in the housing through the optical assembly along pathways that are outboard of the bayonet connector. The system can be employed for dental imaging, wherein the housing has an elliptical profile and is dimensioned to fit in the mouth of a patient. The housing further has a smooth, continuous exterior surface for receiving a protective sheath thereon. The exterior surface of the optical adapter is aligned with the exterior surface of the housing so that the unit has a smoothly continuous surface.

    摘要: A torsional strain relief assembly is provided for absorbing torsional strain at the proximal end of an elongated flexible insertion tube of a borescope or endoscope. The insertion tube is torsionally stiff, i.e. is bendable but resists rotation or twisting about its axis. The strain relief has a tubular rigid sleeve that is attached at its proximal end to a frame or housing, and contains a helical torsion spring whose proximal end is rotationally affixed to the frame. A bushing is rotatably disposed within the distal end of the sleeve and joins the distal end of the spring to the proximal end of the insertion tube. A layer of low friction material such as PTFE can be interposed between the bushing and the inner surface of the rigid sleeve. Rotation of the insertion tube due to bending and twisting is taken up by the spring, and the spring returns the insertion tube to the original position when the twisting forces are relieved. The oeprator can track the orientation of the optical or video imager in the head of the insertion tube by viewing a reference mark or index at the proximal end of the insertion tube.

The sliding frame is provided with quick release fasteners so that individual pieces of x-ray film are easily interchanged within the frame.
