    Abstract: A relief valve capable of reducing pressure of fuel in a discharge passage includes: a valve housing having a communication hole; a valve member provided in a reciprocating manner against the valve housing, and the valve member regulates a flow of the fuel between a discharge passage and a fuel chamber when the valve member is brought into contact with an inner wall formed around the communication hole and the valve member allows the flow of the fuel between the discharge passage and the fuel chamber when the valve member is separated from the inner wall; a spring that biases the valve member such that the valve member and the inner wall are in contact with each other; an adjusting pipe provided at a side opposite to the inner wall with respect to the valve member and configured to adjust biasing force of the spring; and a stopper that is formed as a different component from the adjusting pipe and that regulates movement of the valve member in a valve opening direction by abutting on the valve member.

    Abstract: A high pressure pump includes a pressurization portion, a discharge portion, a body portion, a valve member, a holding member, and an urging member. The body portion includes a relief passage defining portion, an inlet defining portion, a valve seat, and an outlet defining portion. An outlet of the body portion is located apart in a separation direction from an inlet of the body portion. The valve member includes an outer wall surface closing the outlet of the body portion. When the valve member contacts the valve seat, a first distance between an edge portion of the outer wall surface of the valve member facing in a contact direction and an edge portion of the outlet defining portion facing in the contact direction is larger than a second distance between the valve member and the holding member.

    Abstract: A high pressure pump includes a pressurization portion, a discharge portion, a body portion, a valve member, an urging member, valve hold member and a limiting portion. The body portion includes a relief passage, an inlet, a valve seat, and an outlet. The valve member includes a large diameter portion and a small diameter portion. The small diameter portion is located between the valve seat and the large diameter portion and has an outer diameter smaller than an outer diameter of the large diameter portion. The valve hold member surrounding and holding the large diameter portion. The limiting portion capable of limiting a motion of the valve hold member in a separation direction. According to this, a pressure in a fuel rail from extraordinarily increasing again after the relief valve is opened once.

    Abstract: A pump may have a first chamber and a solenoid coil to control movement of a first valve member. A second chamber may have a second valve member to control fluid moving into a third chamber. A first fluid passageway may link the first and second chambers, a second passageway may link second and third chambers and a third passageway may link third and fourth chambers. After pressurizing the third chamber causing fluid to flow into and leave a fourth chamber, the third chamber depressurizes due to downward movement of a plunger. Upon depressurization with a solenoid coil energized, second valve member floats and then moves against a valve seat. While the second valve member is moving toward the valve seat, the solenoid coil is de-energized causing the first valve member to move and strike the second valve member when the second valve member is moving at maximum velocity.
