    Abstract: An information handling system includes a hardware processor, a memory device, a video display device, and a power management unit (PMU). The information handling system further includes an uneven thickness heat spreader cooling system including an uneven thickness heat spreader having a first thickness along a first portion of the uneven thickness heat spreader and a second thickness along a second portion of the uneven thickness heat spreader wherein the second thickness along a second portion of the uneven thickness heat spreader is formed at an information handling system chassis location where a width of the uneven thickness heat spreader is narrower than at the first portion of the uneven thickness heat spreader to transfer heat from a warmer portion of the information handling system chassis to a cooling portion of the information handling system chassis.

The information handling system also includes a controlled battery heat sink cooling system, the battery heat sink cooling system including a heat distribution plate thermally coupled to a surface of the battery, a heat pipe operatively coupled to a first side of the heat distribution plate, the heat pipe operatively coupled to heat generating hardware component within the information handling system to conduct heat from the heat generating hardware component to the heat distribution plate, a spring operatively coupled to the heat distribution plate to produce a force to urge the heat distribution plate to thermally couple to the battery, and a thermal switch operatively coupled to a second side of the heat distribution plate to, when heated to a temperature threshold, expand to thermally de-couple the heat distribution plate from the battery.

    Abstract: An information handling system operating a chassis temperature control system may comprise an integrated circuit operatively connected to a proximity sensing strip and a processor, a temperature sensor measuring an exterior temperature of a portion of a chassis of the information handling system adjacent to the proximity sensing strip, and an orientation sensor measuring an orientation of one portion of the chassis to another portion of the chassis to indicate a laptop physical configuration of the information handling system. The integrated circuit may measure a capacitance across the proximity sensing strip such that a high capacitance measurement results in a low skin temperature limit setting, and the processor may execute code instructions of the chassis temperature control system to incrementally decrease a processor power draw limit level based on the exterior temperature measurement exceeding the low skin temperature limit setting.

    Abstract: An information handling system (IHS) includes an ion emitter/collector blower cooling system including an ion emitter and an ion collector, the ion emitter/collector blower system being placed at a location within a chassis of the IHS vertically lower than the hardware processor in the chassis. The IHS includes an ionic driving circuit operatively coupled to the ion emitter via a high voltage to ionize gases within the ion emitter/collector blower housing and create charged ions that generate an airflow along a voltage field to and through an ion collector. The IHS includes an air inlet vent located below the ion emitter/collector and formed in a back surface of the chassis of the IHS and an air exhaust vent located at an upper exhaust vent location above the ion collector within the chassis of the IHS so that the airflow is brought into the chassis of the IHS via the ion emitter/collector cooling system and out of the air exhaust vent where a location of the air inlet vent relative to the upper exhaust vent location of the air exhaust vent in the chassis of the IHS in a vertical orientation provides convection-enhanced airflow.
