Abstract:
The present invention provides mononuclear aromatic diglycidyl ether epoxy resins, such as alkyl resorcinols and alkyl hydroquinones, having one or two alkyl containing, cycloalkyl containing, alkoxy containing, alkylsulfide containing, alkylsilyl containing or alkylether containing groups, two alkylamino containing groups, one N-heterocycloalkyl group, and mixtures thereof, as well as two component liquid coating compositions comprising as an epoxy component the epoxy resins, and, as a second component, a hardener. Coating compositions of the present invention provide low viscosity coating compositions even at 100% solids and enable the use of epoxy coating compositions in remote field applications.
Abstract:
The present invention provides methods of making a low viscosity C15 alkenyl group containing diglycidyl ether composition comprising at least partially distilling a mixture of one or more C15 alkenyl group containing monoglycidyl ether and one or more C15 alkenyl group containing diglycidyl ether in the presence of a free radical inhibitor to remove at least some of the C15 alkenyl group containing monoglycidyl ether. The methods enable high solids, low viscosity epoxy resins from a renewable source. The present invention also provides compositions of C15 alkenyl group containing diglycidyl ether adducts of a polyamine.
Abstract:
A curable coating composition is provided having multi-functionalized acrylic copolymer and silicone imine resin curing agents. The acrylic copolymer of the curable coating composition has, in polymerized form, epoxy functionalized groups and cure compatibility groups and the silicone imine forms an amino-functional silicone in the presence of water. The coating compositions are useful in the field of superior weatherable and durable coatings and are useful to replace isocyanate-containing polyurethane based coatings. Also provided are coated articles produced from the curable composition.
Abstract:
A method for providing a substrate coated with a cured damping coating including: applying a curable liquid damping composition to a substrate, wherein said curable liquid damping composition includes an admixture of certain Michael acceptor(s), certain Michael donor(s), a base catalyst; a rheology modifier; and a solid filler; wherein the filler is a different material than the rheology modifier; wherein the curable damping composition has a PVC of from 20% to 70%; and drying/curing the applied curable damping composition at a temperature of from 0° C. to 250° C. is provided. Also provided is a substrate coated with the cured damping coating.
