    摘要: An ultrasonic transmitter is disposed on one wall inside the air induction tube of an internal combustion engine and an ultrasonic receiver is disposed on the opposite wall, downstream of the transmitter. A second transmitter-receiver pair is similarly located, but with the positions of transmitter and receiver reversed. Thus, the signals from one transmitter travel generally with the air flow, whereas the signals from the second transmitter travel generally against the air flow. Since the travel time of the signals depends on the velocity of the flowing air, the frequencies of signals from the two receivers are different and this difference is used to determine the air velocity and, hence, the air flow rate.

    摘要: A tank level meter includes an elongated sound conductor of a solid material extending over the entire height of the tank and having a coating partially surrounding it. A sound generator is coupled to one end of the sound conductor to excite thereon surface waves and the opposite end of the conductor is coupled to a sound receiver. Due to different acoustic impedances of the material of the sound conductor of the fluids present in the tank that means of the air and of a liquid whose level is to be measured, the sound waves propagating at the interface of the sound conducting member and fluids arrive to the receiver with a phase shift which is proportional to the liquid level in the tank. By a suitable selection of materials of the sound conductor and coating it is possible to obtain an unambiguous measuring signal at the receiver or a measuring signal having a high resolution. By using at least two sound conductors in the tank it is possible to obtain both a single value volume reading and a high resolution.

    摘要: To determine the rotary speed of a toothed element (1), for example the starter gear of an internal combustion (IC) engine, or a toothed wheel coupled to a wheel of a vehicle for evaluation of the speed, and change in speed thereof, for use in a brake anti-block system, a magnetic field is generated, for example by a permanent magnet (3) which has both radial and tangential components with respect to the teeth (2) of the rotary element. A magnetic field dependent sensor (4) such as a Hall generator or a thin-film permalloy-type magneto-resistive sensor is positioned to respond to the tangential component of the magnetic field, to thereby eliminate shifts in the null or center line about which the field strength undulates as the disk rotates to permit ready evaluation of the output from the sensor by threshold circuitry.

    摘要: To simplify a Wiegand wire type pulse source, a Wiegand wire (4) has a coil (3) wound thereon. A permanent magnet (5) is positioned with a gap from the coil, and a magnetically permeable masking element, for example a sector-shaped disk, is movable between the magnet and the coil. The coil (3) is connected to a source of direct current (B) which so magnetizes the Wiegand wire (4) that, when a gap of the masking element occurs between the magnet (5) and the coil (3), the Wiegand wire is reversely magnetized until, again, a solid portion of the masking element is interposed in the gap between magnet (5) and coil (3) to restore the magnetic direction due to the battery (B). Re-magnetization pulses are picked off the coil (3) by a suitable pulse coupling element such as a capacitor (C).

    摘要: A Wiegand wire is placed within the magnetic field generated by a first and second permanent magnet. The first permanent magnet has a field strength exceeding that of the second permanent magnet and the polarity of its magnetic field is opposite that of the second magnet. A rotor having segments of magnetic shielding alternating with slots is rotated between the Wiegand wire and the first magnet. When the magnetic shielding is between the first magnet and the Wiegand wire, the latter is exposed only to the magnetic field of the second permanent magnet. In a second position of the rotor, the Wiegand wire is exposed to both magnetic fields. Since the second permanent magnet generates a stronger field than the first, the direction of magnetization in the Wiegand wire changes abruptly causing a pulse to be generated in pick-up coil 4.
