Abstract: A heating system for a vehicle includes both a heat pump and an electric resistance heater. A controller calculates a parameter which indicates the relative importance of noise and efficiency based on vehicle location, charging status, time of day, etc. Based on the parameter, the controller operates the heat pump and the electric resistance heater to satisfy a cabin heat demand in a manner that reflects the relative importance of the attributes.

Abstract: Systems and methods for generating auxiliary torque are provided. In one example, a method for controlling a supercharger comprises, responsive to requested torque exceeding spark authority of an engine, varying a current applied to a motor of the supercharger to provide an amount of torque to a crankshaft of the engine. In this way, a supercharger can be controlled to compensate for an engine torque shortfall.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for adjusting noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) limits for a vehicle based on a number of occupants in the vehicle. In one example, a method may include responsive to detecting zero occupants, reducing NVH constraints for operating the vehicle and adjusting one or more vehicle operating parameters based on the reduced NVH constraints.
