    摘要: A breathing apparatus includes components, including, but not limited to, a flow generator, a patient interface, and a delivery conduit. A connector for connecting components of the breathing apparatus includes a male connector, including a recess, extending from a first component, and a female connector, including a lever pivotally connected thereto, extending from a second component. The connector may instead include a first component including a channel; and a second component including at least one retractable pin to engage the channel upon insertion of the first component into the second component. The connector may instead include a first component having at least one retractable projection; and a second component having an aperture. The first component is configured to be inserted into the second component so that the projection is retracted upon engagement of the first and second components, and projects into the aperture upon alignment of the projection and the aperture. A switch may indicate a connection state of the connector. The switch includes a ring provided in an end of the first or second component and the ring includes a projection extending through an aperture in the end of the first or second component. The projection is movable between a first position and a second position to indicate the state of the connector.

    摘要: Systems and methods for selecting a mask system for a patient are provided. Certain example embodiments include generating 3D contours of patients and selecting mask systems based at least on these contours. These contours may be generated by using, for example, a cushion of translatable pins, a nasal cannular scanning device, and/or a shadow stereopsis sensor. Certain other example embodiments allow images and/or videos to be captured and optionally synchronized. Then, images of various mask systems may be overlaid to determine how well a mask system fits. In still other embodiments, a user can hold a transparency corresponding to a mask design in front of the patient's face to determine how well a mask system fits.

Discrete phase states are partitioned and prior probability functions and observed probability functions for each state are defined. The probability functions are based upon relative duration of each state as well as the flow characteristics of each state. These functions are combined to determine phase probabilities for each state using Bayes' theorem. The calculated probabilities for the states may then be compared to determine which state the subject is experiencing. A ventilator may then conform respiratory support in accordance with the most probable phase. To provide a learning feature, the probability functions may be adjusted during use to provide a more subject specific response that accounts for changing respiratory characteristics.

    摘要: A method and apparatus are provided for authenticating a measure of sleepiness in a person in which a measure of the person's sleepiness and an authentication step are performed substantially simultaneously on substantially the same physical attribute of the person. In one form, an eye of a person is scanned under infrared light and a unique identifying code is calculated from the iris as an authentication step. In one form, a measure of the person's sleepiness is determined from changes in the pupil size with time.
