    摘要: A data processor is provided to compression-code moving picture data without decreasing coding efficiency even if the moving picture includes a picture with particularly violent motion. The moving picture is obtained by presenting a plurality of frame pictures, each consisting of two field pictures, one after another. The processor (100) includes a memory (101) for storing the moving picture data, a calculating section (108) for calculating a parameter, representing how much the moving picture has changed, based on the moving picture data of the two field pictures, a determining section (109) for determining, by the parameter calculated, on what picture unit the moving picture data is going to be compression-coded by the intra-picture coding method and the forward predictive coding method and adopting a picture structure defining the predetermined picture unit, and a processing section (102-107, 110) for compression-coding the moving picture data, stored in the memory, according to the picture structure adopted, thereby generating compressed data.

    摘要: To encode a moving picture in real time in as high quality as possible, no matter whether a target bit rate for encoding the moving picture is high or low.An encoder performs motion compensated inter-picture predictive coding on moving picture data in a selected one of prediction modes. The encoder includes: a detecting section for detecting an accumulated error and a motion vector of a block, included in a picture to be encoded, by reference to a block in a reference picture to be used for each prediction mode; an estimating section for calculating an estimated value by adding a product of each accumulated error and a predetermined first coefficient and that of a predicted vector associated with each motion vector and a second coefficient; a determining section for selecting one of the prediction modes according to the estimated value; a coefficient updating section for updating a proportionality factor using at least a quantization scale used when the block to be encoded is quantized; and an encoding section for encoding the data of the block to be encoded in the prediction mode selected.

    摘要: A recording apparatus includes a detector for detecting a video attribute, a detector for detecting an audio attribute, and an address information generator for generating specific address information which indicates a data write address at the time when the video attribute of the audio attribute changes, on the basis of the outputs from the detectors. The specific address information is written in a recording area of an optical disk, which area corresponds to VMGI constituting management information (VMG information) for each VOB. Therefore, when playing an audio video stream recorded on the optical disk, quick access can be made to the recording position in the stream where the attribute change occurs.

    摘要: When recording and reproduction are performed at the same time, if a system controller detects that an amount of data accumulated in a buffer memory exceeds a predetermined value, the system controller stops data reading from an optical disk temporarily and records data accumulated in the buffer memory continuously to the optical disk. Then, an image is prevented from becoming abnormal when a reproduction position catches up to a recording position. Further, a system controller monitors a zone in an optical disk, to which recording is performed and controls a motor at an appropriate revolution number for the recording to the zone. Further, reproduction is performed by maintaining the revolution number. Then, even if the recording position and the reproduction position belong to different zones in a recording medium, a transition time from recording to reproduction is prevented from becoming long.
