    摘要: The invention provides thermosetting coating compositions in which acrylic copolymers are used as carriers for fluorocarbon resins. The compositions have a combination of high fluorocarbon content, high solids content, and a low viscosity suitable for coil coating. Thus, the solids are borne in organic solvent systems which permit minimization of the viscosity and a moderate evaporation rate. The solvent system has a &dgr;H of from 1.7 to 2.6 (calories/cubic centimeter)½ and a &dgr;V of from 8 to 9.5 (calories/cubic centimeter)½ and is exemplified by a mixture of 4 or more of the following solvents: aliphatic ketones having from 4 to 10 carbon atoms, alkyl esters having a total of from 5 to 7 carbon atoms, aromatic acid esters having from 8 to 12 carbon atoms, lactones, and aromatic solvents. The acrylic polymer is comprised of (a) acrylic esters having no additional functionality, (b) acrylic esters having additional functionality by which the acrylic polymer may be cross-linked, and (c) an acryloxyalkyl oxazolidine.

    摘要: A class of di-ortho-substituted bismaleimides undergo uncatalyzed Michael addition with polyhydric phenols to afford chain-extended bismaleimides having a significantly wider processing window than the non-extended parent. The fully cured resins show improved fracture toughness, generally have comparable or superior dielectric constant and dielectric loss, and show no degradation in other properties such as resistance to moisture, to methylene chloride, and coefficient of thermal expansion.

    摘要: Chlorine-resistant semipermeable membranes which comprise an interfacial polymerized reaction product composited on a porous support backing material may be prepared by contacting a porous support material such as polysulfone with an aqueous solution of an aromatic polyamine containing a chlorine substituent on the aromatic ring such as 5-chlor-m-phenylenediamine. The coated support material is then contacted with an organic solvent solution of aromatic polycarboxylic acid chloride such as trimesoyl chloride for a period of time sufficient to form an interfacial polymerized reaction product on the surface of the support material. The resultant semipermeable membrane is then cured at curing conditions to form the desired composite. The resultant membrane composite may be used in separation processes such as desalination of brackish or sea water, the membrane being resistant to attack by chlorine which is present in the water.

    摘要: Thermosetting resins which are essentially vinylbenzyl end-capped ethers of the oligomeric condensation products of certain dihydric phenols and formaldehyde are readily polymerized to give an extensively cross-linked polymer particularly useful in printed circuit boards and similar laminates. Effective cost reduction may be enjoyed by replacing up to 50% of the vinylbenzyl moieties by other groups, such as alkyl and benzyl groups, without destroying the usefulness of the resulting thermosetting resins. The vinylbenzyl ether product from bisphenol-A is especially recommended.
