C. than the softening temperature of the resin of the layer (II).

A process and an apparatus for producing a welded can body having an organic coated welded part are provided in which the exposed metal portion on the inside of the welded part of the can body and its vicinity is covered with a tape of an organic resin alone or a mixture of an organic resin with an inorganic material such as a pigment, a metal, etc. The resin tape is entirely supported by a mandrel to be disposed inside the can body, and pressed against the inside surface of the welded part and its vicinity. By heating the welded part of the can body, the resin tape is heated during pressing.

It is known to apply a sealant to the inner surface of opening portions of a can end so as to reinforce the opening portions and to prevent the leakage of the contents. Devices were invented previously in order to achieve this purpose, but the efficiency of production with these devices is extremely low. The number of cans processed by such conventional devices is limited to about 75 per minute at most, and it is extremely difficult to raise the productivity beyond the limit. Because the sealant used is of very high viscosity, it is not easy to take out a small portion of it and coat it on the inside surface of the can end, and the operation is also time-consuming.The present invention has succeeded in taking out a small predetermined amount of such a high viscosity sealant always onto a stamping die, and this markedly increases the efficiency of production. While the conventional production results in the processing of about 75 pieces per minute, the present invention can increase it to about 300 per minute.

Provided is a package for cooking in a microwave oven, in which a synthetic resin container body having a flange part is filled with contents and a lid is heat-sealed to the flange part to seal the package hermetically. Independent concave parts sandwiching a heat-sealed part are provided in a part of the flange part on the inner and outer sides of the heat-sealed part to form, on the heat-sealed part, a projection part directed to the inner direction of the container and serving as a steam releasing part by automatically opening. The package is prevented from being broken or deformed by preventing the heat-sealed part from being peeled immediately after the contents are placed in the container body. When heating cooking is performed in a microwave oven, the package improves the taste of the contents by the steaming effect. The lid is sure to automatically open by the increase of the pressure in the container.

The cover member comprises (1) an upper member in which inner surfaces of resin films are positioned opposite to each other to form an abutted part, an unsealed part communicating with the inside of the container body is formed by heat-sealing a peripheral edge part of the abutted part excluding one side of the abutted part forming a base part, and the steam releasing seal part is formed at the abutted part and (2) a lower member which covers a lower surface of the upper member and in which a steam guide part communicating with the inside of the container body is formed at or near the base part of the abutted part.
