摘要: A plated nickel-titanium alloy product having a plated layer of nickel or a nickel alloy containing 5 to 15% by weight of cobalt. This product exhibits excellent surface treatability and workability, as well as shape memory effect and super-elasticity. Thus the product is most suitable for eyeglass frame components or similar ornamental articles. The product is produced by plating a layer of nickel or a nickel-cobalt alloy on the nickel-titanium alloy, dehydrogenating, cold working with not less than 10% working ratio, and subjecting to a final heat treatment between 300.degree. C. and 900.degree. C. If the final heat treatment is conducted between 750.degree. C. and 900.degree. C. for 10 to 120 seconds, a product with 4% or more super-elasticity at room temperature can be obtained.

摘要: The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a clad bar and is basically characterized in that a columnar core member is fitted in a cylindrical outside layer member and the resulting assembly is heated, and then the heated assembly is rolled by a rotary mill provided with three or more cone type rolls to integrate the core member and the outside layer member by diffusion bending. The method is additionally characterized in that, in order to prevent unnecessary substances, such as oxides, from being formed on an interface between the core member and the outside layer member, the assembly is sealed at both ends thereof under reduced pressure or under vacuum or the assembly is cold drawn, the assembly thus welded or cold drawn is then heated and subsequently rolled by a rotary mill. Thus, an intermetallic compound layer formed between the core member and the outside layer member can be thinned, whereby improving bond strength.

摘要: The invention relates to a method of manufacturing solid metallic materials having a circular cross section by employing a rotary mill. A three or four roll cross-type rotary mill is employed, with cross and feed angle setting selected so as to meet specific conditions. The method permits efficient production of metallic materials without internal cracks or internal fracture initiated from porosity. In one version of the method the material being worked is rotated. In another version the material is not rotated and the roll housing is rotated around the former. Where the latter version is employed, it is possible to work the material as produced by a continuous casting machine and without cutting.

摘要: A method of and an apparatus for rolling a rod as a starting material and producing a wire of 5 mm or smaller diameter, the method and apparatus using a continuous rolling mill comprising a plurality of round-grooved four-roll stands arranged in tandem, wherein the grooved four-roll is displaced between adjacent rolling stands by 45 degrees relative to each other around the pass line and the center-to-center distance between adjacent rolling stands measured in the pass line direction is not greater than 50 times the diameter of the rod. The front end portion of the rod is fed at slow speed into the continuous rolling mill, the front end portion being guided by a front pipe to the center of the round groove, and the front end portion is wound on a coiler. After that, the rotation speed of the grooved rolls in each rolling stand is so set as to prevent slack in the rod passing through the continuous rolling mill, and the rod is rolled at high speed, without causing the rod to touch the leading pipe, to produce a wire. Each of the rolling stands that constitute the continuous rolling mill is movable in a direction perpendicular to the pass line, each rolling stand being moved for connection to or disconnection from the driving source.

摘要: A method of manufacturing hollow rods of very thick wall, in which wall thickness to outside diameter ratio is 25% or more, such as those used as work stock for manufacturing oil-well drilling collars. A cross-type or rotary mill having three or four cone-type rolls is employed without using internal sizing tools such as plug or the like, whereby a hollow work piece is worked and reduced in both outside diameter and wall thickness to the target values. In order to obtain higher dimensional accuracy and to prevent deterioration of the work material in mechanical properties, the cross angle should be positive and the feed angle should be set within the range of 3.degree..ltoreq..beta..ltoreq.20.degree..

摘要: A method of manufacturing a metallic tube with a spiral fin for use as a heat transfer tube of a heat exchanger and the like. A solid metallic bar or metallic elementary hollow bar provided with a small hole is supplied to an inclined rolling mill having a plurality of rolls provided with a plurality of annular grooves formed on an outer circumferential surface thereof, and the solid metallic bar or metallic elementary hollow bar is worked into a pierced hollow bar by piercing rolling by means of a piercing plug and at the same time a fin is formed on an outer circumferential surface of the pierced hollow bar to integrate the fin with a body of the tube. Accordingly, the piercing rolling and the formation of the fin on the outer circumferential surface of the tube can be carried out at the same time, so that the manufacturing process can be remarkably shortened and the productivity can be high. In addition, a high fin can be formed and the shape of the fin becomes reliable, whereby the product can be remarkably improved in quality.

摘要: This invention relates to a threaded joint for steel pipes which comprises a pin and a box each having a contact surface including a threaded portion and an unthreaded metal contact portion and which guarantees galling resistance and gas tightness in a stable manner without application of a compound grease. A solid lubricating coating comprising a lubricating powder (e.g., molybdenum disulfide) and an organic or inorganic binder is formed on the contact surface of at least one of the pin and the box. The proportion of area of a cross section along the thickness of the solid lubricating coating which is occupied by secondary particles of the lubricating powder having an equivalent circular diameter of 15-60 &mgr;m is from 5-90%. Alternatively, the solid lubricating coating comprises, in addition to the lubricating powder, a fibrous filler (e.g., inorganic whiskers) in such an amount that the mass ratio of the fibrous filler to the binder is 0.01-0.5. As a result, galling resistance is improved, particularly at high temperatures.
