摘要: A surgical instrument for use in spinal surgery is provided. The surgical instrument may have particular application in posterior total disc arthroplasty. The surgical instrument is adapted to be minimally invasive. The surgical instrument can be anchored into position by a stability pin. Further, the surgical instrument can guide a chisel or other instrument to the intervertebral space to resect a portion of a vertebral endplate. In at least one embodiment, the surgical instrument is also capable of distracting the disc space.

摘要: A prosthetic device for posterior placement in an intervertebral space defined between an upper vertebrae and a lower vertebrae may include an upper articular portion configured to be at least partially disposed in the intervertebral space and a lower articular portion configured to be at least partially disposed in the intervertebral space below the upper articular portion, the upper and lower articular portions being configured to provide articulating motion to the upper and lower vertebrae. The upper and lower articular portions each may include a posterior section configured to be disposed in a location posterior of the intervertebral space. The posterior section of one of the upper and lower articular portions may include a post, and the posterior section of the other of the upper and lower articular portions may include a receiving portion configured to interact with the post during articulation.

The surgical instrument is adapted to maintain the relative positions of multiple components of a prosthesis during insertion. The surgical instrument can be anchored into position by a stability pin. Further, the surgical instrument can guide a drill or other instrument to a portion vertebra to facilitate the securing of the prosthesis components to the vertebrae.

摘要: A prosthetic device for placement in an intervertebral space defined between an upper vertebra and a lower vertebra to provide articulating motion to the upper and lower vertebrae. The prosthetic device may include a first articular portion configured to be at least partially disposed in the intervertebral space and adjacent to the first vertebra and a second articular portion configured to be at least partially disposed in the intervertebral space and adjacent to the second vertebra. A hemispherical member is also included, about which the first and second articular portions can articulate. A flexible member flexibly secures the hemispherical member to the first articular portion. A method of implanting also is disclosed.

摘要: An interbody spacer includes an elongated body with a maximum width between opposite side walls and a maximum height between upper and lower bearing surfaces. The interbody spacer also includes a leading end nose connecting the side walls to facilitate insertion of the interbody spacer into a disc space between vertebrae in an insertion orientation, from which the interbody device is then rotated to position the upper and lower bearing surfaces in contact with the endplates of the adjacent vertebrae. The leading end nose forms a blunt convex nose between the upper and lower bearing surfaces to maximize the bearing surface area available to contact the adjacent endplates.

摘要: An implant for spacing apart skeletal structures. The implant includes a base, a rotatable member, and a connector. The base extends around at least a portion of the member, and the member is pivotally connected to the base by the connector. The member includes a first pair of opposing sides that have a first height that is smaller than or equal to a height of the base, and a second pair of opposing sides that have a second height larger than the base. The member is movable to a first rotational position with the first pair of opposing sides facing in the same direction as the sides of the base such that the member is shorter than or equal to the base. The member is also movable to a second rotational position with the second pair of opposing sides facing in the same direction as the sides of the base such that the member is taller than the base.

摘要: A spinal implant for positioning in a space formed between vertebral members. The implant includes a number of sections that are pivotally attached together at pivot axes. The pivot axes include connectors that extend through at least a portion of the sections and are configured for the sections to be pivotally attached for the implant to be flexible to facilitate insertion into the space and to be configurable to the space. One of the sections may include a receptacle that is contained within the section. The receptacle has a fixed size and shape that holds bone growth material. The fixed size and shape of the receptacle prevents the bone growth from escaping during flexing of the implant.

摘要: An interbody implant system is provided. The interbody implant system includes an implant having an engagement surface and an instrument including a first member and a second member that is movable relative to the first member. The first member is configured to capture the implant and the second member includes an interface configured to engage the engagement surface to releasably lock the implant in at least one orientation relative to the second member. The at least one of the engagement surface and the interface include at least one planar face. Methods of use are disclosed.
