Abstract:
A threaded joint for steel pipes comprising a pin 1 and a box 2 each having a contact surface comprising a threaded portion 3 or 4 and an unthreaded metal contact portion 8 is provided with improved anti-galling propertied by forming a lubricating coating on the contact surface of at least one of the pin and the box, the lubricating coating exhibiting a self-repairing function by liquid lubrication and having a decreased greasiness. The lubricating coating is (1) a coating which comprises a lower lubricant layer which is in liquid form in the temperature range of above 0° C. and below 40° C. and an upper lubricant layer which is in solid form at 40° C., or (2) a coating which is semi-solid or solid at 40° C. and is formed of a mixture comprising a lubricating oil which is in liquid form in the temperature range of above 0° C. and below 40° C. and a wax which is in solid form at 40° C., the mixture preferably having been heated so as to liquefy the wax and dissolve in each other the wax and lubricant oil.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a threaded joint for steel pipes which comprises a pin and a box each having a contact surface including a threaded portion and an unthreaded metal contact portion and which guarantees galling resistance and gas tightness in a stable manner without application of a compound grease. A solid lubricating coating comprising a lubricating powder (e.g., molybdenum disulfide) and an organic or inorganic binder is formed on the contact surface of at least one of the pin and the box. The proportion of area of a cross section along the thickness of the solid lubricating coating which is occupied by secondary particles of the lubricating powder having an equivalent circular diameter of 15-60 &mgr;m is from 5-90%. Alternatively, the solid lubricating coating comprises, in addition to the lubricating powder, a fibrous filler (e.g., inorganic whiskers) in such an amount that the mass ratio of the fibrous filler to the binder is 0.01-0.5. As a result, galling resistance is improved, particularly at high temperatures.
Abstract:
In a threaded joint for steel pipes comprising a pin and a box capable of mating with each other, the pin having an externally threaded portion and an unthreaded metal contact portion as a mating surface, and the box having an internally threaded portion and an unthreaded metal contact portion as a mating surface, the mating surface of at least one of the pin and the box is coated with a lower porous zinc or zinc alloy layer by blast plating and with an upper coating which is either a solid lubricating coating (comprising a lubricating powder in an organic or in organic binder) or a liquid, heavy metal powder-free coating (e.g., a liquid coating based on a highly basic organic acid metal salt such as a highly basic metal sulfonate). The threaded joint exhibits improved galling resistance, rust-preventing properties, and gas tightness even after exposure to a high temperature and makes it possible to perform repeated fastening (make-up) and loosening (break-out) in a high-temperature oil well without application of a compound grease containing a heavy metal powder.
Abstract:
A thin and highly transparent coating having excellent air tightness, adhesion to a substrate, lubricating properties, galling resistance, and corrosion resistance is formed on the surface of a metal substrate and particularly on the surface of a threaded joint which is used for connection of oil country tubular goods. A photocurable composition comprising (A) a photocurable (meth)acrylate resin, (B) a (meth)acrylate monomer selected from a monofunctional (meth)acrylate monomer and a difunctional (meth)acrylate monomer, (C) a trifunctional or higher multifunctional (meth)acrylate monomer, (D) a photopolymerization initiator, (E) a benzotriazole anticorrosive agent, (F) an anticorrosive pigment selected from a phosphate anticorrosive pigment and calcium ion-exchanged silica, and (G) a phosphate ester is used to form a photocured coating.
Abstract:
In order to provide a tubular threaded joint constituted by a pin and a box each having threads and an unthreaded metal contact portion with excellent galling resistance and gas tightness even in extremely cold environments at −60° C. to −20° C. and rust preventing properties without using a compound grease, a thermoplastic solid lubricating coating containing low friction copolymer particles made from an acrylic-silicone copolymer and preferably further containing a solid lubricant (e.g., graphite) in a thermoplastic polymer matrix (e.g., selected from polyolefin resins and ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer resins) is formed on the surface of the threads and unthreaded metal contact portion of a pin and/or a box.
Abstract:
A chemical conversion treatment liquid which can stably form a phosphate-type chemical conversion film on a steel material for a joint portion of an oil well steel pipe containing 0.5-13% Cr is developed.Using a chemical conversion treatment liquid to which a prescribed amount of potassium is added, a chemical conversion film containing a prescribed amount of potassium compounds and having a prescribed thickness can be formed on the threaded surface of a joint portion of an oil well steel pipe.
Abstract:
A threaded joint for steel tubes has a contact surface (30) including a threaded portion and a non-threaded metal-to-metal contact portion. The contact surface of at least one of a pin and a box of the joint is coated with a first plating layer (34) made of a Cu—Zn alloy or a Cu—Zn-M1 alloy (wherein M1 is at least one element selected from Sn, Bi, and In). An undercoat (32) of one or both of a Ni plating layer (32a) and a Cu plating layer (32b) and an overcoat of a Sn-M2 alloy plating layer (36) (wherein M2 is one or more elements selected from Bi, In, Ni, Zn, and Cu) may be formed below and above the first layer, respectively. A solid lubricating coating (38a) and a viscous liquid or semisolid lubricating coating (38b) may also be formed atop the plating layer as a lubricating coating (38).

The contact surface of at least one of the pin and the box has a lower layer of a viscous liquid or semisolid lubricating coating comprising at least wax and a fatty acid alkaline earth metal salt and not containing a harmful heavy metal such as lead and an upper layer of a dry solid coating formed from an aqueous resin coating composition, an organic solvent type coating composition, or an ultraviolet curing coating composition.
Abstract:
A capacitance detection type stylus is attached to the free end of a cantilever which is supported on a vertically movable resilient pivot. A permanent magnet is fixed to the movable pivot. A servo-control coil is provided adjacent the permanent magnet to move it in response to angular displacement of the cantilever from a predetermined position. The pivot is moved in the direction of fluctuation of a disc record to maintain the stylus in a proper orientation with respect to the record surface.
Abstract:
A signal pickup cartridge is mounted in a signal pickup device having pivot bearings and an actuator driven by the pivot bearings in response to a control signal. The pickup cartridge comprising a cantilever provided at a distal free end thereof with a reproducing stylus for tracing along a track which is formed on a rotary recording medium lying in a horizontal plane and has an information signal recorded therealong and thereby reproducing the information signal. The cantilever is supported at a proximal base end thereof by the pivot bearings in a swingable manner and, moreover, in a manner making possible displacement thereof in the longitudinal direction thereof. The pickup cartridge further comprises pressure contact mechanism for holding the cantilever when the pickup cartridge is in the state thereof prior to the mounting thereof in the signal pickup device and for causing the proximal base end of the cantilever to be pressed into contact with the pivot bearing when the pickup cartridge is in the mounted state in the pickup device, and elastic members capable of absorbing vibration provided at one part of the pressure contact mechanism and holding the cantilever at a part thereof near the proximal base end.
