    摘要: Disclosed are a display device and a method of driving the same capable of improving display quality and reducing the manufacturing cost. A display device includes a display panel displaying images corresponding to image signals, a light-emission block supplying backlight to the display panel, and a backlight driver outputting a light data signal for determining luminance of backlight. One of a plurality of linear gamma curves is selected from a lookup table in accordance with average image luminance during prescribed frames, and the duty ratio of the light data signal is determined on the basis of the selected linear gamma curve. Each of the linear gamma curves represents the relationship between the average image luminance and the duty ratio of the light data signal.

The timing controller transmits a luminance pulse having representative grayscale values of an image corresponding to the light-emitting blocks and a synchronization signal including information of a start position of the representative grayscale values to the local dimming driving part. The local dimming driving part drives the light-emitting blocks using the representative grayscale values obtained from the luminance pulse.

The DC-DC converter further includes an oscillator connected between the main inductor and the main diode, an auxiliary switching element connected to the oscillator, the auxiliary switching element changing an operation state based on an externally applied control signal to control the oscillator, and a diode unit connected to the oscillator and the auxiliary switching element and controlling current flow based on operations of the oscillator and the auxiliary switching element to change the output voltage. The main switching element and the main diode are to be zero voltage switching or zero current switching in accordance with the operations of the oscillator and the auxiliary switching element.
