    摘要: A method of determining contact wear in a trip unit of a circuit breaker and a circuit breaker employing such a method are presented. The trip unit includes a microcontroller and associated memories. An algorithm (program) stored in a memory of the trip unit calculates cumulative energy dissipated in the breaker contacts using the current signal detected at the time of separation. Measurement of cumulative energy dissipated in the breaker contacts is proportional to contact wear. Maintenance setpoints are determined based on industry standard endurance tests and alarm threshold and trip thresholds further based on industry standards are provided within the algorithm for notifying local or remote personnel of a necessary maintenance procedure.

    摘要: A pile joiner is disclosed for connecting together the ends of concrete piles which joiner includes a socket member and a mating member one of which is on the end of one pile and the other is on the end of the pile to be connected therewith. Each of these two members has a base plate with a central hole therethrough and a tubular element secured to each base plate and extending at right angles thereto. One tubular element is a socket element and the other is a mating element which is received within the socket element. The socket element and the mating element have at least a first sleeve means which includes a sleeve hole or holes through a wall or walls of each element and in alignment when the members are assembled together, an outer sleeve for each sleeve hole of the socket element extending outwardly and an inner sleeve for the sleeve hole or holes of the mating element extending inwardly or between sleeve holes in opposite walls thereof. When the two members are assembled together with their base plates in contact, the first sleeve means of each member or element are in alignment and receive a lock bar to retain the two members and their piles together against separation. Preferably the tubular socket element and the tubular mating element have a second sleeve means similar to the first which are in alignment when the two members are assembled together and preferably angularly located with respect to the first sleeve means. A second lock bar is received therein to additionally secure the the two members and the ends of the piles together. The pile joiner is constructed so that it is suitable for piles of different forms in cross section and for a wide range of sizes of piles. The invention includes each member individually as well as the members in combination as a pile joiner.

    摘要: An electronic trip unit for a circuit breaker is disclosed. The electronic trip unit has a processing circuit, and a real time clock circuit that is operational in the absence of current in the circuit breaker. The processing circuit is responsive to input signals representative of a current in the circuit breaker, and the real time clock circuit is in signal communication with the processing circuit. In response to an off event at the circuit breaker following a current flow condition thereat, the real time clock circuit is configured to generate time information relating to the circuit breaker being off as a result of the off event for use by the processing circuit.

    摘要: An arcing fault detection module (4) for detecting arcing faults in an electrical current distribution circuit (8) comprises a filter circuit (9) and an autocorrelation circuit (10). The filter circuit (9) is electrically connected to the distribution circuit (8) and samples current with the distribution circuit. The filter circuit (9) includes a band pass filter (12) to filter out fundamental and high frequency components from the sampled current, and a comparator (13) to convert the sampled current to a digital signal. The autocorrelation circuit (10) receives the digital signal from the filter circuit (9). The autocorrelation circuit (10) includes a plurality of shift registers (15-18) for storing the digital signal for a predetermined sample period, and a plurality of EXCLUSIVE-OR gates (35-37,41, 43, 44) and OR gates (38, 39) to detect odd and even harmonic signals. An integrator-counter (47) electrically connects to certain EXCLUSIVE-OR and OR gates, and provides an arc indicative signal when the absolute value of the even and odd harmonic signals is equal to a predetermined number.
