摘要: The present invention provides compositions and methods that enable the stabilization and storage of samples by contacting a sample with an assembly of particles, and reducing the water activity level of the contacted sample. By reducing the water activity level of the sample, the assembly of particles minimizes the degradation of the sample. Stabilizers may or may not be added to the assembly of particles to further minimize the degradation of the sample. Subsequently to storage in the assembly of particles, the samples are recoverable by eluting the assembly of particles with a fluid solution. In one embodiment, the entire assembly of particles will dissolve into the solution. In another embodiment, only part of the assembly of particles will dissolve into the solution. The assembly of particles provides the advantage that while it is porous, it comprises non-porous particulate material.

摘要: The present invention provides sample collection, shipping, and storage devices and methods of using the same. These devices and methods are useful, for example, for collecting, shipping, and storing biological samples, such as blood, serum, buccal samples, tissue homogenates, or cell lysates in a dry state. The devices and methods facilitate the rapid drying of biological samples collected on the devices, thereby improving the quality of the stored sample, particularly the protein and small molecule components of the stored sample. The present invention further provides methods of recovering biological samples from such devices.

摘要: A turbine flowpath apparatus is provided for a gas turbine engine having a centerline axis. The apparatus includes: an annular flowpath member of low-ductility material, the flowpath member having a flowpath surface and an opposed back surface, and having a cross-sectional shape comprising a generally cylindrical forward section and an aft section that extends aft and radially outward at a non-perpendicular, non-parallel angle to the centerline axis; an annular stationary structure surrounding the flowpath member; and an annular centering spring disposed between the stationary structure and the flowpath member, the centering spring urging the flowpath member towards a centered position within the stationary structure.

摘要: A gas-enhanced electrosurgical instrument includes a hand-held applicator and a portable actuator assembly. The hand-held applicator has a gas delivery member adapted to deliver pressurized ionizable gas to the proximity of an electrode located adjacent a distal end of the applicator. The portable actuator assembly is capable of holding a source of pressurized ionizable gas, such as a cylinder or cartridge, and includes at least one controller to control the delivery of the gas from the source to the hand-held applicator and to control the delivery of electrosurgical energy to the hand-held applicator.

摘要: A method of developing software capable of performing a task, the task comprising at least one task step required to perform the task. The task step has a resultant effect. The method comprises recording a use case comprising one or more scenarios, that comprise one of more further steps; recording the scenario or one of the scenarios as a main success scenarios such that the resultant effect of the main success scenario is the same as the resultant effect of the task step. Use cases which have been stripped of context-specific information may be re-used. Such information may be included in a reference to the re-used use case.
