Abstract: A high-workability, fire-resistant, anti-spalling concrete composition is provided. The concrete composition has a slump value of at least approximately 150 mm, a fire-resistant period of at least 4 hours, a compressive strength of at least 120 MPa at room temperature, and a compressive strength of at least 20 MPa at 700° C. The composition includes cement, fly ash, silica fume, aggregate particles having a particle size D90 of approximately 20 mm or less and superplasticizer. The composition includes fiber additives including steel fibers in an amount ranging between approximately 0.1% and approximately 0.4% by volume of the concrete composition and polypropylene fibers having a melting point of approximately 200° C. or less in an amount ranging between approximately 0.05% and 0.3% by volume of the concrete composition. Carbon nanotubes are also present in an amount ranging between approximately 0.1% and approximately 0.3% by volume of the concrete composition.

Abstract: The present invention provides a one-component silicone sealant composition curable when exposed to moisture at room temperature. The resulting silicone sealant has excellent stain-resistance, good overall mechanical performances and good adhesion on both dry and wet substrates. The composition contains modified hydroxyl-terminated polyorganosiloxanes polymer network in different viscosities being cross-linked with branched silicone oil in the presence of an environmental-friendly and tin-free catalyst and cross-linkers while some inert and/or functional nanofillers are added into the composition to provide mechanical and/or functional properties to the resulting silicone sealant. A method for preparing the present composition is also provided.

Abstract: The present invention provides an adhesive material with improved bonding performance to a wet substrate, the adhesive material includes a first component selected from a polysiloxane-based adhesive, or a polyurethane-based adhesive; and a second component of a catechol-containing polymeric additive which includes a reaction product of polyvinylpyrrolidone with 3′,4′-dihydroxy-2-chloroacetophenone, and the weight ratio of polyvinylpyrrolidone to 3′,4′-dihydroxy-2-chloroacetophenone ranging from 10:1 to 1:1. The adhesive material being a mixture of at least the first component and the second component, where the second component is approximately 1 wt. % to 10 wt. % of the first component.

The encapsulated particle includes a core comprising an anti-UV agent, and a shell at least partially enclosing the core and comprising a polymer. Abstract: A composition for forming fire resistant concrete block, that includes a cementitious binder material comprising alumina cement, recycled fine aggregate, and recycled coarse aggregates, the recycled fine aggregates including 10-50 wt % recycled particulate glass cullet having a particle size of 600 microns or less, a concrete block formed from the composition exhibiting a decrease in thermal conductivity with increasing temperature at temperatures causing the particulate glass cullet to melt. A concrete block fabricated from the composition exhibits a fire resistance of at least three hours, a density below 2000 kg/m3, and a compressive strength of at least 7 MPa.

Abstract: A method of applying a riblet structure coating on the internal surface of a pipe includes coating the internal surface of a pipe with a resin layer and applying a cavity mold having a reverse riblet pattern structure to the coated internal surface of the pipe. A flexible air bag is inserted into the interior of the pipe and charged with air to hold the mold against the coated internal surface of the pipe. The air bag may be charged with air for a sufficient amount of time to allow the coating to cure in the riblet shape of the mold. Afterwards, the air bag and the mold are removed from the pipe to yield a pipe coated with an internal riblet structure.

Abstract: A nano-modified dry-mixed alkali-activated cementitious, or one-part geopolymer cement (OPgC), material with high early strength is provided for rapid repair of cement-based infrastructure components. The OPgC may include an aluminosilicate rich material, an alkali material and a nano-modifier, and optionally include other functional admixtures and fibers. The OPgC can be freshly mixed with water to obtain a repairing material. The OPgC may mix with water and fine or coarse aggregate to form mortar or concrete. The OPgC can be an alternative binding matrix for the development of an environmentally friendly and cost effective rapid repair material.

Abstract: A durable, hydrophobic and anti-scratching nano-coating for coating on a glass substrate or surface having a water contact angle of about 90° or more, a reduced coefficient of friction by 50% or more, and a reduced surface roughness compared to those of the glass substrate or surface without the nano-coating is provided, which includes a layer of fluorinated silica derived from sol-gel hydrolysis between one or more tetraalkoxysilanes having at least three alkoxy groups and one or more polyfluorinated silanes having at least a trialkoxysilane and from 15 to 17 fluorine atoms in the presence of a catalyst to a reaction mixture of the sol-gel hydrolysis between the one or more tetraalkoxysilanes and the one or more polyfluorinated silanes, and a solvent. A related method of fabricating the nano-coating via atomization of acid-containing or alkali-containing solution and sol-gel precursor solution onto the glass surface is also provided.
