摘要: A process for producing a substantially oxygen-free gaseous product such as argon containing not more than one ppm by volume of oxygen is disclosed. The process comprises introducing hydrogen into a gas stream which contains oxygen and moisture, contacting the gas stream with a dessicant to remove substantially all of the moisture therefrom, contacting the substantially anhydrous gas stream with an oxidation catalyst to convert substantially all of the oxygen in the gas stream to water, and contacting the resultant gas stream with a dessicant to remove the water created in the oxidation step. The product stream may be further purified to remove residual hydrogen contained therein.

摘要: Partial oxidation of hydrocarbons to produce hydrogen and carbon monoxide is carried out by a cyclical process, which includes (a) contacting an oxygen ion conducting ceramic with air at a pressure between about 1 and 50 bara in a reactor, wherein oxygen from the air reacts with the ceramic, thereby producing an oxygen-enriched ceramic, and (b) contacting the hot, oxygen-enriched ceramic with hydrocarbon gas and optionally steam in the reactor. During the partial oxidation reaction phase of the process, the oxygen-enriched ceramic reacts with the hydrocarbon, thereby producing the desired gas products and regenerating the oxygen ion conducting ceramic for the next cycle of the process.

摘要: Partial oxidation of hydrocarbons to produce hydrogen and carbon monoxide is carried out by a cyclical process which includes passing air through a perovskite ceramic substance at elevated temperature, thereby adsorbing oxygen from the air, and subsequently contacting the hot oxygen-containing ceramic substance with a hydrocarbon. During the partial oxidation reaction phase of the process, the sorbed oxygen reacts with the hydrocarbon, thereby producing the desired gas products and regenerating the adsorbent for the next cycle of the process.

摘要: A method for producing hydrogen by performing the steps of feeding a synthesis gas mixture to a pressure swing adsorption unit; producing hydrogen from the synthesis gas mixture in the pressure swing adsorption unit; feeding the remainder of the synthesis gas mixture at low pressure to an electrochemical cell wherein hydrogen is separated from the remainder of the synthesis gas mixture and is simultaneously pressurized; feeding the pressurized hydrogen from the electrochemical cell to join with the hydrogen generated in the pressure swing adsorption unit and recovering the combined hydrogen product. The synthesis gas mixture may be from a reformation unit and it may be subject to a water gas shift reaction. In addition to the production of hydrogen, the separation of hydrogen in the electrochemical cell increases the concentration of carbon dioxide in the residual waste gas and enables carbon dioxide recovery.

摘要: A method for producing carbon dioxide by the steps of feeding a CO2-rich feed stream containing fuel gas to an oxygenated oxygen-selective ceramic bed to produce a product stream of carbon dioxide, water, and residual oxygen; adding oxygen to this product stream and feeding to an oxygen-depleted oxygen-selective ceramic bed and recovering carbon dioxide substantially free of oxygen and fuel gas. In an additional embodiment, nitrogen oxides are also removed from the fuel gas.

摘要: A process for recovering a given component from a first gas stream in which the given component is intermittently present by PSA or TSA using an adsorbent which more strongly adsorbs the given component by introducing into the first gas stream, prior to PSA or TSA treatment, a second gas stream that is enriched in the given component. The second gas stream may be introduced into the first gas stream only during periods when the concentration of given component in the first gas stream is below its maximum concentration or it may be continuously introduced into the first gas stream at a level which is greater than the maximum concentration of given component originally present in the first gas stream.

摘要: A method for producing hydrogen in a steam methane reformer is disclosed. The method provides for the steps of feeding a mixture of fuel and air to a steam methane reformer; feeding a mixture of steam and hydrocarbons to the steam methane reformer; contacting the steam and hydrocarbons with a metal monolith supported catalyst; providing an electric current to the metal monolith supported catalyst; and recovering the hydrogen. The electric current applied to the metal monolith supported catalyst will encounter electrical resistance which will create heat. This heat can supplement that provided for by the reaction of the fuel and air allowing for a reduction in fueling costs as well as treatment costs of the resultant flue gas.

摘要: A method is disclosed for producing high purity, high pressure hydrogen from a low pressure synthesis gas production process. The low pressure synthesis gas is produced from steam or carbon dioxide reforming of hydrocarbons, autothermal reforming of hydrocarbons or partial oxidation of hydrocarbons. The resulting low pressure synthesis gas mixture is fed to an electro-chemical cell wherein hydrogen is separated from the low pressure synthesis gas mixture and subjected to compression and high pressure; high purity hydrogen is recovered from the electro-chemical cell.
