    摘要: With regard to a metal vapor discharge lamp with a triple tube structure including a discharge tube, an inner tube, and an outer tube, misalignment of axes of the inner tube and the outer tube is prevented. The metal vapor discharge lamp (14) is composed of a discharge tube (30) having a pair of electrodes therein, an inner tube (32) having a pinch-sealed part (86) at an end thereof and hermitically housing the discharge tube therein, and an outer tube (34) housing the inner tube therein, and a base (36). In a clearance between the inner tube and the outer tube, there disposed a restrain member (37) for restraining movement of the inner tube relative to the outer tube in a direction orthogonal to an axis of the metal vapor discharge lamp.

The metal members which are provided in the outer tube and which include wiring for supplying power to the arc tube will not react with one of nitrogen and a nitrogen compound in the nitrogen gas atmosphere in the outer tube when the temperature exceeds 350° C. in a steady-state illumination. The use of a metal member such as stainless steel will increase the life of the discharge lamp.

    摘要: A metal vapor discharge lamp having a highly reliable sealed portion. The lamp has an arc tube including a discharge portion of translucent ceramic in which a discharge metal is filled and a pair of electrodes is disposed; small tubular portions coupled to both ends of the discharge portion; feeder bodies inserted into the small tubular portions; and a sealing material sealing the gap between the feeder body and the small tubular portion at the end portion opposite to the discharge portion. The end of the small tubular portions and the inner surface of the discharge portion define a discharge space. The feeder bodies are composed of a conductive cermet and connected to the electrodes. The ends of the feeder bodies extend at least to the ends of the small tubular portions. The temperature of the end of the sealing material on the discharge space side during the lamp operation is not more than 800° C.

    摘要: According to one embodiment, a method for manufacturing a thin film magnetic head includes forming on a substrate magnetic head portions having a magnetoresistive element and resistance detection elements for measuring an amount of polishing; slicing the substrate to form at least one row bar; polishing the ABS of each row bar; forming rails on the polished ABS; and cutting each row bar to separate each magnetic head portion. The step of polishing the ABS includes measuring a resistance of each resistance detection element and a resistance of each magnetoresistive element; calculating an offset value between the resistance detection element and the magnetoresistive element; and calculating a final resistance of the resistance detection element by using the calculated offset value. When the resistance of the resistance detection element reaches the final resistance, polishing of the ABS of the row bar is terminated. Other methods are presented as well.

    摘要: To improve the laser annealing process for polycrystallizing amorphous silicon to form silicon thin films having large crystal particle diameters at a high throughput, the present invention is directed to a process of crystallization by irradiation of a semiconductor thin film formed on a substrate with pulsed laser light. The process comprises having a means to shape laser light into a linear beam and a means to periodically and spatially modulate the intensity of pulsed laser in the direction of the long axis of the linear beam by passing through a phase-shifting stripy pattern perpendicular to the long axis, and collectively forming for each shot a polycrystalline film composed of crystals which have grown in a certain direction over the entire region irradiated with the linear beam.
