Disclosed are packages, cartons, cases, and trays comprising a hot melt adhesive, in turn comprising at least one first homogenous linear or substantially linear ethylene polymer having a particular density and melt viscosity at 350° F. (177° C.), up to 60 weight percent wax and up to 40 weight percent tackifier. In particular, disclosed are packages, cartons, cases, and trays comprising a hot melt adhesive characterized by: a) at least one homogeneous linear or substantially linear interpolymer of ethylene with at least one C3-C20 &agr;-olefin interpolymer having a density from 0.850 g/cm3 to 0.895 g/cm3; and b) up to 60 weight percent of at least one tackifying resin; and c) up to 40 weight percent of at least one wax, wherein the hot melt adhesive has a viscosity of less than about 5000 cPs (50 grams/(cm.second)) at 150° C.

An all-plastic drum construction permits a variety of sizes and capacity of drum by utilizing an extruded tube for the drum side walls of selected diameter and length proportional to the drum capacity desired. An injection molded bottom closure is welded to the bottom end of the tube by a thermoplastic bonding material having dispersed iron particles which are excited when exposed to induction heating thereby facilitating the melting of the thermoplastic. This welding material is disposed within a cavity defined by the bottom closure and bottom end of the tube and when subjected to induction heating and pressure fills the cavity to effectuate the bond between surfaces of the bottom closure and bottom end of the tube. A tight head drum is formed by securing by a similar welding technique a top closure to the upper end of the tube. In forming an open head drum, a thermoplastic chime is initially welded in similar fashion to the upper end of the tube. Thereafter, a top cover is releasably secured to the chime by a locking rim assembly.

These advanced resins and unadvanced epoxy resins provide coatings with good flexibility or formability as exhibited by good flexural or formable properties determined by reverse impact, T-bend and wedge-bend tests, chip resistance, and with good corrosion resistance and throwpower.

The closure includes a liner cap disposed both interiorly and exteriorly of the neck and defines a central passage. A plug extends across the top of the cap to close off the passage from the exterior. The plug is provided with at least one longitudinal hole. The lower end of the plug has attached thereto a membrane extending across the passage. This membrane does not permit liquids within the container to pass therethrough, but possesses the property of being capable of venting gasses therethrough. A dust cap may extend across the top of the closure during shipment and storage.

(177.degree.C.), and an optional wax and tackifier. In particular, disclosed is a hot melt adhesive characterized by: a) at least one homogeneous linear or substantially linear interpolymer of ethylene with at least ibe C.sub.2 --C.sub.20 .alpha.-olefin interpolymer having a density from 0.850 g/cm.sup.3 to 0.895 g/cm.sup.3 ; and b) optionally at least one tackifying resin; and c) optionally at least one wax wherein the hot melt adhesive has a viscosity of less than about 5000 cPs (50 grams/cm.second) at 150.degree.C. Preferred hot melt adhesives for use in adhering cardboard or paperboard are disclosed, as well as the resultant adhered products. Also disclosed is a dual reactor process for the preparation of the inventive hot melt adhesives.
