摘要: Described herein are methods for the high-throughput discovery and genotyping of nucleotide polymorphisms in DNA, including single nucleotide polymorphism (SNPs) and short deletions and insertions. These methods take advantage of the fact that differences in DNA sequence result in the differential presence of restriction endonuclease digestion sites. Differences can be detected between individuals, or the relative presence detected in a population. Provided approaches involve isolation of short DNA fragments (“tags) near restriction endonuclease sites. The presence of one (or two) of these tags indicates that a site was present. Distinguishable labeling of tags from two individual or populations allows comparative presence of these sites to be assayed on a platform that employs a collection of nucleic acids. Other approaches depend on the differential presence of restriction endonuclease sites, but involve mixing genomic DNA from the two individuals. Regions of DNA with a restriction site in only one individual create an opportunity for primer extension to produce labeled material, which can be assayed on a platform that employs a collection of nucleic acids. Any of a variety of detection platforms can be use with the described approaches. By way of example, highly efficient variant detection microarrays and bead libraries are provided that contain genomic tags with different representations between two populations, so that most elements in the collection of nucleic acids contain an informative SNP between the populations of interest.

摘要: A gasket and mandrel assembly, including a gasket having an annular main body portion with an anchor flange and a pipe sealing portion. The gasket is foldable between a folded position in which the pipe sealing portion is disposed substantially within the main body portion and an unfolded position in which the pipe sealing portion extends outwardly of the main body portion along its longitudinal axis. A pair of mandrels are respectively fitted on opposite sides of the folded gasket to enclose most of the gasket for casting the gasket within a wall in a concrete structure. At least one of the mandrels includes an annular outer surface aligned parallel or substantially parallel with the longitudinal axis of the gasket. Removal of the mandrels results in the cast opening in the concrete structure having a circular inner surface which is disposed parallel or substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the gasket and the resulting opening such that, if the gasket should fail, the gasket may be removed from the opening and an expansion-type gasket may be sealingly compressed against the opening surface with an expansion band assembly.

摘要: An embodiment of the connection system is for connecting a plurality of components together. One embodiment of a method of the system provides a dowel having first and second portions. Each of the portions has first and second ends, the first and second portions being connected to one another at their second ends. At least one portion of the first and second portions has at least three dowel sections of successively decreasing diameters. One of these dowel sections has a side wall and an end wall that forms the first end of the at least one portion and each of the other dowel sections has a side wall and step wall. A first component has a first opening configured to substantially fit the first portion, and a second component has a second opening configured to substantially fit the second portion. An adhesive material is then applied on at least part of the first portion, and the first portion is inserted into the first opening in the first component. Adhesive material is then also applied on at least a part of the second portion, and the second portion is inserted into the second opening in the second component, thereby connecting together the two components.

摘要: Interlocking end members for expandable compression rings. Compression rings are formed by attaching the interlocking members to the ends of a flexible strip and coupling the interlocking members together. The interlocking members include a recess for receiving the ends of a flexible strip and a jaw structure for engagement with one another. The jaw structure includes two or more offset opposed jaw members which include angled teeth. The teeth of opposed jaw members of coupled interlocking members engage one another in a locking relationship, whereby the resulting compression ring can be expanded and locked into a range of positions.

摘要: An external bus master (205) accesses a DRAM (207) using a memory controller (804) internal to a data processor (3) without the use of external multiplexers or any other external circuitry. The need for external multiplexers and even a dedicated integrated circuit pin for providing external control during external master initiated DRAM accesses is removed by the implementation of a circuit and technique for multiplexing row and column addresses of the DRAM internally within the data processor.
