    摘要: Head position control is implemented in a disk drive for the case in which a disk is assembled into the disk drive after a precise track is recorded onto it using an external apparatus, which is capable of high-speed access even if there is eccentricity between a track defined by servo information and the center of rotation of the track. Two phase servo bursts consisting of servo information are recorded onto each of the servo information regions of a disk surface, in mutual alternation, the strength ratio between signals detected from these two phase servo bursts being used to determine to which side the head is displaced. By performing control so that this strength ratio is a prescribed value at each angular position, control is achieved so that the head moves along a circular path of rotation, even if there is eccentricity in the servo circular path defined by the recorded servo information with respect to the center of rotation.

    摘要: A rotary actuator for positioning magnetic heads in a disk drive, comprising a stator assembly and a rotor assembly. An arm assembly having magnetic heads are fixed to the rotor assembly, which rotates back and forth within a limited angle range around a fixed axis of the rotary actuator due to the forces between plural magnets and driving current which flows though flat coils. Two flat coils are aranged on an arcuate inner surface of the stator such that two adjacent vertical parallel portions thereof closely contact with each other. Two flat coils have an electrical connection with a driving source that the currents through the two adjacently parallel portions flow in the same direction. Three permanent magnets are disposed on the rotor surface, the central magnet having a greater lateral width than that of other two side magnets, and a polarity of the central magnet is opposite to that of other magnets. In another embodiment, each of flat coils comprises an inner coil and an outer coil resulting in enhancing the torque of the rotary actuator. Several modifications of coil and permanent magnet arrangement, and other related improvements in the structure thereof are also disclosed.

    摘要: A rotary moving coil actuator in a disk drive selectively positions a read/write head with respect to disk medium. A carriage is pivotable about an axis and has a carriage arm for supporting the head. A pair of magnets, disposed in spaced relationship within a magnetic yoke structure, have spaced flat faces perpendicular to the axis and define a gap therebetween. A flat coil structure, comprising one or a pair of flat coils, is attached to the carriage and disposed at least in part within the gap between the opposing flat faces of the magnets so as to be movable along a stroke of movement relatively thereto. The flat coil structure in cooperation with the magnets, generates a driving force in a direction approximately parallel to a first line which is perpendicular to the axis and passes through the axis and toward the read/write head and thereby substantially perpendicular to the seek direction of the head.
