Provided is a polyester film containing a lubricant having an average particle diameter of 0.001 to 2.5 .mu.m in an amount of 0.01 to 5.0% by weight and suited for the lamination onto the surface that comes in contact with the contents of an easy-open can cap. The polyester film has a plane orientation coefficient of 0.115 to 0.140, two or more endothermic peaks in DSC curve in the range of 170 to 270.degree. C., a peak temperature of 60 to 120.degree. C. of a complex elastic modulus (E") in water and an intrinsic viscosity of 0.50 to 0.64 dl/g. Having these features, the polyester film laminated onto a metal sheet is excellent in can-capping processability and in corrosion resistance even after holding at high temperature.

A laminate polyester film to be laminated onto metal plate and molded comprises the first layer made from copoly(ethylene-terephthalate/isophthalate) having a melting point of 205 to 250.degree. C. and a second layer made from a polyester (i) comprising ester units of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid component, an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid component and aliphatic diol components, (ii) containing a titanium compound soluble in the polyester in an amount of 30 to 200 ppm in terms of elemental titanium and (iii) having one or two melting point(s) in the range of 170 to 245.degree. C., and has the maximum peak temperature of loss elastic modulus of higher than 47.degree. C. and 85.degree. C. or lower. This laminate polyester film is suitably used for application such as metal cans for juice and other refreshing drinks that are handled in a cooled state.

The invented film comprises a layer A composed of a copolyester A, a layer B composed of a copolyester B, and a layer C composed of copolyester C. Layer A is laminated to one side of the layer B. Layer C is laminated to the other side of Layer B. Copolyester A contains 0-15 wt % of rutile titanium oxide (average particle diameter 0.1-0.5 &mgr;m). C. and (ii) 0 to 45% by weight of polybutylene terephthalate or a copolyester containing butylene terephthalate units as a main recurring unit and having a melting point of not lower than 180.degree. C. and (B) has a plane orientation coefficient of 0.08 to 0.16. Since this supporting film is excellent in substrate shape follow-up properties and resolution, it is suitable for the preparation of a photoresist film laminate by laminating a protective film and a photoresist layer on the surface thereof.

This film is suitable for use in a thermosensitive stencil printing base sheet which enables clear character printing and solid printing, is free from nonuniformity in printing thickness, nonuniformity in printing density and wrinkles, and excellent in durability, and has high perforation sensitivity.

A multilayered reflective polarizing film is provided that has high polarization performance comparable to that of an absorption-type polarizing plate, and is preferred as a polarizing plate attached to a liquid crystal cell. An optical member for liquid crystal display devices, and a liquid crystal display device formed from such a multilayered reflective polarizing film are also provided. Specifically, the reflective polarizing film includes a uniaxially stretched multilayered film in which a specific aromatic polyester containing (alkylenedioxy)di-2-naphthoic acid as a part of dicarboxylic acid components is used as a first layer, and an optically isotropic polyester having an average refractive index of 1.50 to 1.60 is used as a second layer, and that has a predetermined refractive index difference between the layers. The reflective polarizing film has an angle of orientation of 2 degrees or less.
