    摘要: A projector includes: a light emitter; a light modulator modulating light from the light emitter; and a projector projecting the image from the light modulator. The light emitter includes a light emitting element and an optical member. The light emitting element is a super luminescent diode having an active layer constituting first and second gain regions sandwiched between first and second cladding layers. The first gain region is tilted in a clockwise direction relative a perpendicular of a first surface of the stacked structure. The second gain region is tilted in a counterclockwise direction relative to a perpendicular of the first surface. As such, the optical member refracts the light respectively emitted from the end surfaces of the first and second gain regions on the second surface side to thereby emit light beams in the same direction.

    摘要: A projector includes: a light emitting device; a light modulation device adapted to modulate a light beam emitted from the light emitting device; and a projection device adapted to project the image formed by the light modulation device, wherein the light emitting device includes a light emitting element formed of a super luminescent diode, and adapted to emit light, and a base supporting the light emitting element with first and second reflecting surfaces to reflect the light emitted from the light emitting element. The light emitting element emits the light from first and second end surfaces. Directions of first and second outgoing light respectively emitted from the first and second end surfaces are opposite to each other. Directions of the first and second reflected light respectively reflected by the first and second reflecting surfaces are the same as each other.

    摘要: An image forming apparatus transmits, when a function which cooperates with a function providing apparatus is added, information on the added function to a management server, and changes a failure monitoring setting according to the returned monitoring condition. If a failure occurs, the image forming apparatus generates, if the failure is attributable to the function providing apparatus, failure information indicating that the failure is attributable to the function providing apparatus, and otherwise, the image forming apparatus generates failure information on the failure to transmit to the management server. Upon receiving the information on the added function from the image forming apparatus, the management server returns the monitoring condition corresponding to the added function to arrange for maintenance of the image forming apparatus. If the failure is attributable to the function providing apparatus, the management server does not arrange for maintenance of the image forming apparatus.

An optical element in accordance with the present invention includes a surface-emitting type semiconductor laser including, above a substrate, a first mirror, an active layer and a second mirror disposed from the side of the substrate, a photodetector element, that is provided above the surface-emitting type semiconductor laser, including a first contact layer, a photoabsorption layer and a second contact layer disposed from the side of the surface-emitting type semiconductor laser, a first dielectric layer formed above the substrate, and a second dielectric layer formed above the surface-emitting type semiconductor laser, wherein the first dielectric layer covers a side surface of a first columnar section including at least a portion of the second mirror, and the second dielectric layer covers a side surface of a second columnar section including at least a portion of the second contact layer.

    摘要: An image forming apparatus monitoring system which is configured so as to reduce an installing operation load for installation of image forming apparatuses including settings relating to monitoring apparatus. In the present system, when a multi-function machine determines that it is not registered in the image forming apparatus monitoring system, the multi-function machine searches for a monitoring apparatus 105 which matches the multi-function machine, and selects the monitoring apparatus 105 which is to monitor the multi-function machine, based on monitoring apparatus information acquired from the searched monitoring apparatus 105. When receiving a notification of the start of monitoring from the selected monitoring apparatus 105, the multi-function machine stores the notification in a storage area as registration completion information. On the other hand, the monitoring apparatus 105 transmits monitor request information received from the multi-function machine to the monitoring host 101, and starts monitoring the multi-function machine when determining from the result of the monitor request that registration of the multi-function machine in the monitoring host 101 is completed.
