    摘要: A knocking control system for an internal combustion engine with inlet valves and exhaust valves having valve timing thereof controlled depending on operating conditions of the engine. It is determined whether or not knocking has occurred in the engine on the basis of a detection parameter indicative of knocking and at least one discrimination parameter. The operation of the engine is controlled by the use of at least one control parameter in response to the determination result, so as to eleminate knocking. The values of the discrimination and control parameters are selected in accordance with the actual valve timing. When abnormality in the valve timing control is detected, the valve timing is held at predetermined valve timing irrespective of engine operating conditions, and values of the at least one discriminating parameter and the at least one control parameter are selected, which correspond to the held predetermined valve timing. Alternatively, when abnormality in the valve timing control is detected, the above control of the engine operation is inhibited.

    摘要: In a system for controlling opening of a throttle valve installed at an air intake system of an internal combustion engine mounted on a vehicle, a fully-closed value of the opening of a throttle valve is learning-controlled based on a detected opening of the throttle valve to update the learned fully-closed value, when operating state of the vehicle is under a prescribed operating state such as the operator rides the accelerator pedal; and the updating of the learned fully-closed value is inhibited in valve opening direction until the operating state of the vehicle moves outside the prescribed operating state and then again returns to the operating state. In addition, an amount for updating in the opening direction is set smaller than that in the closing direction. With this, it becomes possible to avoid engine speed destabilization and other various problems even if the learned value in effect during pedal riding is used for engine idling speed control.

    摘要: A system for controlling ignition timing of a vehicle internal combustion engine, in which a plurality of sets of ignition timing control characteristics are established in response to the octane numbers of different kinds of fuel which may intentionally or unintentionally be used in the vehicle. The system infers the octane number of the fuel being used from the occurrence state of knock and selects the set of control characteristics corresponding to the selected fuel octane number, whereafter it determines the ignition timing based on the selected set of control characteristics. The system overcomes the disadvantages of the conventional system, namely that when the set of characteristics for low octane number fuel is misselected when the vehicle is running on high octane number fuel, resulting in unnecessary reduction of output torque, either the conditions under which it is possible to forcibly shift to the set of conditions for high octane number fuel are limited to special ones, specifically to low engine speed operating condition, or if not so limited, the knock which occurs when the forcible shift is carried out causes a shift in the opposite direction, whereby the control experiences undesirable hunting.

If a fingerprint image read-in command executes when the sensor cover is closed, that command is invalidated. In such a configuration, the opening and closing of a sensor cover works in synchronicity with on/off control of power supply for a fingerprint sensor and even when the sensor cover is open, wasteful electricity consumption through power supply continuing if the fingerprint sensor is not used within a specified period of time is prevented.

    摘要: A system for controlling an air/fuel ratio for an internal combustion engine, using an oxygen concentration sensor having a first chamber for introducing therein exhaust gas of the engine and a second chamber for introducing therein reference ambient air to detect oxygen content in the exhaust gas. In order to eliminate exhaust gas pulsation which could affect on detection accuracy, it is firstly determined if engine operation is in a transient state or in a normal state. Then the detected oxygen concentration value in the preceding cycle is added to the product obtained by multiplying the deviation between the values in the preceding and current cycles by a coefficient .alpha.. The coefficient is made different in the transient state and in the normal state. In the normal engine operation state, the coefficient .alpha. is determined from engine speed and load.

An intake cam 24 that opens and closes an intake valve 6 is provided so that a phase angle of the intake cam 24 may be adjusted through a VTC 27 (phase angle adjustment means). The phase angle of the intake cam 24 is adjusted in accordance with increase or decrease of a flow rate of recirculation of exhaust gases, thus restricting occurrence of NOx.
