    摘要: The invention provides a method for the preparation of a pitch spinnable into pitch filaments as a precursor of carbon fibers starting from a pitch material such as coal tar and coal tar pitch. Different from the conventional procedure involving hydrogenation of the starting pitch, the starting pitch in the inventive method is first heated together with an aromatic oil, preferably, in the presence of a cracking catalyst such as silica-alumina and zeolite at 350.degree. to 500.degree. C. for 10 to 60 minutes under no pressurization with hydrogen and, after removal of insoluble materials, then heated at a temperature of 430.degree. to 600.degree. C. The thus obtained pitch for spinning has good spinnability and the carbon fibers prepared from the pitch have a unique microscopic structure and excellent physical properties exceeding by far the conventional pitch-based carbon fibers and approximating the HP-grade carbon fibers prepared from polyacrylonitrile fibers.

    摘要: The invention provides a novel method for forming a ceramic lining layer on the inward surface of a hollow body such as a pipe. According to the invention, a thermit mixture, for example, composed of aluminum powder and an iron oxide is placed in the hollow space of the hollow body, which is rotated at a high speed so as that the thermit mixture is pressed against the wall of the hollow body by the centrifugal force and the thermit mixture is ignited, for example, by contacting with an acetylene flame. The thermit reaction of the thermit mixture propagates under the influence of the centrifugal force so that the molten metal formed from the reducible metal oxide and the ceramic oxide formed from the strongly reductive element are separated into stratified layers by virtue of their density difference with the ceramic oxide forming the innermost layer and the metal forming the intermediate layer between the ceramic oxide layer and the wall of the hollow body with strong bonding of the ceramic oxide layer upon solidification by cooling.

    摘要: A very efficient microbiological method is proposed for the preparation of .gamma.-linolenic acid or a lipid rich in the content of .gamma.-linolenic acid, one of the essential fatty acids in the diet of mammals, e.g. human. The method comprises culturing a fungus of Mortierella genus including isabellina, vinacea, ramanniana, ramanniana var. angulispora and nana in a culture medium containing a carbohydrate, e.g. glucose, as the carbon source in an unusually high concentration of 60 to 400 g/liter to grow a fungal body containing a large amount of a lipid rich in the content of .gamma.-linolenic acid. A further improvement in the efficiency of culture and the content of the desired fatty acid in the fungal body is obtained by the addition of acetic acid or an alkali acetate to the culture medium.

    摘要: The novel polymeric compound proposed in the invention has a backbone structure formed of a copolymeric moiety of maleic anhydride and divinyl ether and pendant groups thereon derived from an anthracycline-type anti-tumor agent, e.g. adriamycin and daunomycin, or 1-.beta.-D-arabinofuranosylcytosine bonded to the maleic anhydride units in the backbone structure by forming amide linkages, the remaining anhydride units in the backbone structure being hydrolyzed into free acid form or a salt thereof. Both in vitro and in vivo tests indicate that the anti-tumor active pendant groups in the polymeric compound can be released sustainedly to exhibit the anti-tumor activity with greatly decreased side effects unavoidable when the above mentioned anti-tumor agents as such are administrated to a patient in a relatively large dose.

    摘要: A combustor of a gas turbine having a double wall construction in one part of the combustor, wherein an outer plate is formed with a multiplicity of cooling air inlet apertures and an inner plate is formed with a multiplicity of cooling air outlet apertures. The inner and outer plates are connected together by a multiplicity of connectors formed of heat conductive material and define therebetween a space. The cooling air inlet apertures are greater in diameter but smaller in total area than the cooling air outlet apertures which are inclined at an angle of 30 degrees. Cooling air introduced into the space through the cooling air inlet apertures impinge on the inner surface of the inner plate and performs impinge cooling while the connectors perform pin fin cooling. The cooling air also performs film cooling as it flows along the outer surface of the inner plate after cooling the walls of the cooling air outlet apertures while being released.
