    摘要: A system and method for manufacturing and/or molding a plurality of parts, such as a sleeve bearing and a roller bearing, into a predetermined position in the housing wiper motor comprising a component such as a housing. The wiper motor comprises a motor housing, a plurality of bearings integrally insert molded into a predetermined position in the motor housing and a motor situated in the motor housing and having a plurality of shafts which are received in the plurality of bearings. The method for molding a motor housing for use in the vehicle comprises the steps of situating at least one part, such as the sleeve bearing, into a mold for molding the motor housing and then insert molding the housing such that the at least one part becomes integrally formed or molded into a predetermined position therein. In a preferred embodiment, the part is molded into the housing such that it is aligned within a tolerance range of about -0.05 mm to +30 0.05 mm. The housing is then assembled with a motor, and the assembled housing and motor may then be used in a vehicle.

    摘要: A method for minimizing torque ripple in a permanent magnet brushless DC motor includes the steps of energizing a first winding of the motor to generate a first current, energizing a second winding of the motor to generate a second current, and overlapping the first and second currents in time by a preselected time to reduce torque ripple. The structure for performing the method includes conventional brushless DC motor drive circuitry responsive to a motor rotor position signal, and a speed control signal, to sequentially generate a gate drive signal for driving a respective semiconductor switch to energize each winding of the motor. The structure further includes a phase overlapping circuit interposed between the conventional brushless DC motor control circuitry output and the semiconductor switches used to energize each winding of the motor. The phase current overlap circuit includes a monostable multi-vibrator for generating a "one-shot." The pulse width or duration of the "one-shot" determines the extent of the phase current overlap. The overlapping circuit detects transitions on the gate drive signal lines, and in response generates a trigger signal. The trigger signal triggers generation of the "one-shot." The overlapping circuit maintains two of its gate drive signals for the duration of the "one-shot."

There is a bypass line around the fan motor for prioritizing the operation of the power steering unit. A normally closed pressure sequencing valve opens the bypass line when the pressure across the overall series combination exceeds a predetermined limit. Optional second and third bypass lines are disclosed for respectively bypassing either the power steering unit or the fan motor in case of abnormal conditions therein.

    摘要: The invention concerns rainwater sensors for windshields. In one embodiment, a first, inner, conductive film is applied to the inner surface of the windshield, and a second film, of same size and shape as the first, is applied to the outer surface. However, a narrow strip is removed from the second film, forming a gap which divides the second film into parts 1 and 2. The resulting structure forms two capacitors, namely: (1) inner film plus part 1, and (2) inner film plus part 2. The impedance of one capacitor is monitored. When rain occurs, it falls into the gap between parts 1 and 2, and acts as a resistor, bridging part 1 to part 2. This bridging adds a new impedance in parallel with the first capacitor, thereby changing the effective impedance. This change indicates the presence of rain.

    摘要: An electric motor, such as a motor for operating a worm drive, has a rear bearing and rear bearing support in the form of a sleeve bearing which is received within a rearwardly facing axial opening formed in the end of the motor armature shaft. The bearing receives one end of a non-rotating pin which has its opposite end secured to the rear end wall of the motor and thus supports the armature shaft on the end wall. Minor misalignments are provided for by aligning movements of the bearing support pin accompanied by slight bending of the end wall of the motor case. In another embodiment, the pin is provided with a spherical end received within a conforming or mating recess and providing for pivotal aligning movement of the bearing support pin with respect to the motor case. The bearing may also be shouldered or flanged so that thrust forces on the shaft are transmitted to an adjacent shoulder on the bearing support pin.

The wiping system comprises frictional material or a wiper material which is applied directly to either a wiper blade or a windshield in at least one reversal area on the windshield where the wiping blade is driven from a first direction to a second direction which is generally opposite that of the first direction. The wiper material is coated or integrally formed as part of the windshield in the reversal areas to facilitate increasing the friction between an edge of the wiper blade and a surface of the windshield which, in turn, facilitates causing the blade to flip from a first wipe side to a second wipe side, thereby reducing or eliminating "chisel chatter" problems of the past.
