    摘要: This invention is directed to a cyclonic vapor/liquid contacting device and distillation or related mass transfer or heat transfer processes employing its use, such as fluid catalytic cracking. Liquid feed is introduced near the floor of the cyclone via downcomer or plenum. Vapor enters through sieve holes in the bottom of the cyclonic device. Near the floor are angled tabs or vanes that impart a spin to the vapor rising up through the floor. The tabs or vanes mix the liquid and vapor. The liquid is then thrown toward the cyclone wall, where it exits through slots in the wall. A second set of tabs or vanes, located about in the middle of the cyclone, imparts additional spin to the vapor and entrained liquid rising through the cyclone. This improves liquid collection by the cyclone, especially in cases where a heavy liquid load dampens the spin action of the vapor in the base of the cyclone. In another embodiment, there is a non-spinning zone at the floor of the cyclone barrel which permits improved heat transfer between the liquid and vapor. If a non-spinning zone is used, the two sets of vanes or tabs are located at higher elevations within the barrel.

    摘要: A method for determining the efficiency of a carbon filter used to absorb hydrocarbons from organic solvents. A sample of the solution, used to remove CO.sub.2 and H.sub.2 S from natural hydrocarbon gases, is taken after it has passed through the carbon filter. A solution of an internal standard and carbon disulfide is added to the sample to concentrate the hydrocarbons into the solution. A second sample taken from the solution containing the concentrated hydrocarbons and is passed through a gas chromatograph which has a fast temperature ramp to measure the peak areas of the hydrocarbons and the internal standard. The concentration of the measured hydrocarbons are determined by comparing the peak area counts against that of the internal standard.

    摘要: A method for synthesizing MCM-48 includes combining an inorganic silica reagent, an alkylammonium hydroxide and halide-containing surfactant to form a reaction mixture which is maintained under sufficient conditions to form a crystalline MCM-48 product. In a preferred embodiment, the organic silica reagent and the alkylammonium hydroxide are combined in the agueous medium to form a first reactions mixture and the halide-containing surfactant is then added to the first mixture so as to form a second reaction mixture which is then reacted to form the MCM-48 product. The crystalline MCM-48 material according to the invention can be functionalized by adding aluminum. The crystalline MCM-48 product produced by the process of this invention possesses an X-ray diffraction pattern indicative of a cubic unit cell with Ia3d symmetry.

    摘要: This invention provides a method of producing an aromatics alkylation catalyst comprising the steps of:(a) synthesizing a layered oxide material MCM-56 in the presence of alkali and/or alkaline earth metal cations;(b) prior to any calcination of the MCM-56, subjecting the MCM-56 produced in step (a) to ammonium ion exchange so as to at least partially replace the alkaline or alkaline earth metal cations associated with the MCM-56 with ammonium ions; then(c) heating the ammonium-exchanged MCM-56 to decompose the ammonium cations and convert the MCM-56 into the hydrogen form; and(d) after step (b), forming the MCM-56 into catalyst particles.The resultant catalyst exhibits enhanced activity in the alkylation of benzene with ethylene and propylene.
