摘要: A heat exchanger that is constructed with a heat exchanger shell having inlet and outlet plenums and fluid inlet and outlet ports, and a tube sheet construction disposed in the heat exchanger shell. The tube sheet construction includes at least two separate tube sheets and a plurality of tubes that extend between the separate tube sheets. Each tube sheet includes at least two planar tube sheet segments and an interstitial layer disposed between the at least two tube sheet segments, and at least one sensor element supported by each of the interstitial layers. A control monitor controls flow through the shell by a feedback control from the sensor to an inlet control valve and/or a stimulus device excites the media layer.

摘要: A filter is disclosed. The filter includes a vessel having at least one inlet and at least one outlet, a media bed including a plurality of media layers, an uppermost media layer of the media bed including substantially uniform and spherical glass micromedia, the plurality of media layers increasing in density from the uppermost media layer to a lowermost media layer and an air distributor configured to direct a volume of air through the plurality of media layers. A system for treating water is also disclosed. The system includes a source of water to be treated, a filter vessel as described herein, and a treated water outlet fluidically connected to a filter vessel outlet. A method of retrofitting a filter vessel as described herein is also disclosed. The method includes removing the uppermost media layer from the media bed and installing a media comprising substantially uniform and spherical glass bead micromedia into the media bed as the uppermost media layer. A method of facilitating water treatment is also disclosed. The method includes providing a filter vessel as described herein and instructing a user to connect an inlet of the filter vessel to a source of water to be treated.

A media layer is provided between adjacent sheet segments.

摘要: A heat exchanger that is constructed with a heat exchanger shell having inlet and outlet plenums and fluid inlet and outlet ports, and a tube sheet construction disposed in the heat exchanger shell. The tube sheet construction includes at least two separate tube sheets and a plurality of tubes that extend between the separate tube sheets. Each tube sheet includes at least two planar tube sheet segments and a interstitial layer disposed between the at least two tube sheet segments, and at least one sensor element supported by each of the interstitial layers. In an alternate embodiment opposed position sensor elements may be provided at opposite sides of the tube sheet construction.

摘要: A multi-layer media bed filter with an increasing density of media from the finest media on the top to the coarsest media on the bottom is backwashed using air without significantly disrupting stratification of the media layers. When the air is stopped, the contaminants in the liquid above the finest media that were removed by the airflow are flushed away either with liquid injected above the media or by a liquid flow through the media that does not remove the finest media. The amount of contaminants that remain in the finest media with the stratification-maintaining air backwash is significantly less than when using liquid backwash alone, whether the liquid backwash uses a flow rate sufficient to suspend the micromedia or below a suspending flow rate.

摘要: A screening apparatus that includes a strainer element used for the purpose of retaining particulate while permitting the passage of a liquid through the strainer element, a support structure for the strainer element to enable rotation of the strainer element between opposed 180 degree positions, and a control member coupled with the strainer element for controlling the rotation of the strainer element. The strainer element, in both opposed positions thereof impedes any particulate while permitting the passage of a liquid. The control member is constructed so that, in a first state thereof, the rotation of the strainer element is periodically controlled to rotate the strainer element between said opposed 180 degree positions, and in a second state thereof, inhibits rotation of the strainer element.
