Abstract:
A source content routing system is described for distributing source content received from clients such as documents, to translators for performing translation services on the source content. The routing system extracts source content features, which may be represented as vectors. The vectors may be assembled into an input matrix, which may be processed using an artificial neural network, classifier, perceptron, CRF model, and/or the like, to select a translator such as a machine translation system and/or human. The translator provides translation services translation from a source language to a target language, post translation editing, proof reading, quality analysis of a machine, quality analysis of human translation, and/or the like and returns the product to the content routing system or clients.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method that includes receiving a result word set in a target language representing a translation of a test word set in a source language. When the result word set is not in a set of acceptable translations, the method includes measuring a minimum number of edits to transform the result word set into a transform word set. The transform word set is in the set of acceptable translations. A system is provided that includes a receiver to receive a result word set and a counter to measure a minimum number of edits to transform the result word set into a transform word set. A method is provided that includes automatically determining a translation ability of a human translator based on a test result. The method also includes adjusting the translation ability of the human translator based on historical data of translations performed by the human translator.
Abstract:
Methods, systems and program product are disclosed for determining matching level of a text lookup segment with a plurality of source texts in a translation memory in terms of context. The invention determines exact matches for the lookup segment in the plurality of source texts, and determines, in the case that at least one exact match is determined, that a respective exact match is an in-context exact match for the lookup segment in the case that a context of the lookup segment matches that of the respective exact match. Degree of context matching required can be predetermined, and results prioritized. The invention also includes methods, systems and program products for storing a translation pair of source text and target text in a translation memory including context, and the translation memory so formed. The invention ensures that content is translated the same as previously translated content and reduces translator intervention.

Abstract:
A high power laser optical amplifier system for material processing comprises multiple stage fiber amplifiers with rejection of propagating ASE buildup in and between the amplifier stages as well as elimination of SBS noise providing output powers in the range of about 10 .mu.J to about 100 .mu.J or more. The system is driven with a time varying drive signal from a modulated semiconductor laser signal source to produce an optical output allowing modification of the material while controlling its thermal sensitivity by varying pulse shapes or pulse widths supplied at a desire repetition rate via modulation of a semiconductor laser signal source to the system to precisely control the applied power application of the beam relative to the thermal sensitivity of the material to be processed. The high power fiber amplifier system has particular utility in high power applications requiring process treatment of surfaces, such as polymeric, organic, ceramic and metal surfaces, e.g., material processing, surface texturing, heat treatment, surface engraving, fine micro-machining, surface ablation, cutting, grooving, bump forming, coating, soldering, sealing, surface diffusion and surface conversion to a compound. A particular example is given for texturing of disk surfaces of magnetic disk media prior to the deposition or coating of a thin magnetic film on the textured surfaces to prevent slider stiction.

A single transverse mode semiconductor laser diode source is designed for employment in an optical transmission link comprising a transmitter module and a receiver module operable under uncooled conditions, i.e., without the need of costly cooling equipment, such as thermoelectric coolers. The optical transmission system includes both the semiconductor laser diode source and the optical receiver module that are both designed to operate uncooled under high frequencies (e.g., GHz range) over a wide temperature range without significant changes in signal bandwidth and at temperatures in excess of 125.degree. C.

Abstract:
III-V arsenide-nitride semiconductor are disclosed. Group III elements are combined with group V elements, including at least nitrogen and arsenic, in concentrations chosen to lattice match commercially available crystalline substrates. Epitaxial growth of these III-V crystals results in direct bandgap materials, which can be used in applications such as light emitting diodes and lasers. Varying the concentrations of the elements in the III-V materials varies the bandgaps, such that materials emitting light spanning the visible spectra, as well as mid-IR and near-UV emitters, can be created. Conversely, such material can be used to create devices that acquire light and convert the light to electricity, for applications such as full color photodetectors and solar energy collectors. The growth of the III-V material can be accomplished by growing thin layers of elements or compounds in sequences that result in the overall lattice match and bandgap desired.
Abstract:
An optical amplifier system includes a fiber amplifier doped with rare earth dopant provided in its fiber core. A plurality of fiber lasers have their light outputs optically coupled together for launching into the fiber amplifier for optically pumping the amplifier. Each of the fiber lasers have a rare earth dopant provided in its fiber core for stimulated lasing emission with the rare earth dopant of the fiber amplifier being different from the rear earth dopant of the fiber lasers. A reflector may be provided in each of the coupling fibers for reflecting a portion of the respective light outputs back into the fiber lasers to control their wavelength of operation, the wavelength of operation of the reflectors chosen to be within a high absorption region of the absorption band of the fiber amplifier. Where the pump source is a semiconductor laser source, the source may include a flared gain section to increase the output intensity of the light output of the source.
Abstract:
A fiber laser or fiber amplifier uses resonant pumping of the gain medium by providing a pump resonator that establishes a resonator cavity at the pump wavelength which includes the pumped gain medium. The pump resonator may be of a distributed feedback (DFB) or a distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) type construction, and may be combined with signal reflection apparatus of either DFB or DBR type construction that provides oscillation of the desired laser output wavelength. If used without a signal reflection apparatus, the invention may be operated as a resonant pumped fiber amplifier. Resonant pumped lasers may be arranged in series to provide a laser apparatus with a selectable output wavelength. The different laser stages each provide resonance for a different pump wavelength, and each provide resonance for a different signal wavelength. Thus, a particular pump wavelength input to the series arrangement only resonates in one of the laser stages, and therefore only pumps the gain medium of that stage, allowing it to output its unique signal wavelength. The output signals from each laser stage may be coupled out of the series arrangement with wavelength selective optical couplers, each associated with a different laser stage.
Abstract:
An infrared laser diode wireless local area network for communication between spatially dispersed terminals such as computers which may be located in a single room or in adjacent rooms. The lasers may be tuned to emit at varying frequencies for wavelength multiplexing, or a plurality of lasers each having a different output frequency can be connected with each terminal. A receiver connected to each terminal may similarly detect only a single narrow waveband or may detect a plurality of such wavebands. A transceiver may be employed for signal transmission between separate rooms. High speed data modulation of the carrier waves is provided with MOPA or similar lasers, and broad angular dispersion of the output is achieved by such lasers along with dispersive lenses.
