摘要: The presently disclosed subject matter provides techniques for inducing collagen cross-linking in human tissue, such as cartilage or cornea, without using a photosensitizer (e.g., riboflavin), by inducing ionization of the water contained in the tissue to produce free radicals that induce chemical cross-linking in the human tissue. In an embodiment, a femtosecond laser operates at sufficiently low laser pulse energy to avoid optical breakdown of tissue. In an embodiment, the femtosecond laser operates in the infrared frequency range.

摘要: A Nd:YAG laser at a wavelength of 1444 nm for removing fatty tissue is disclosed, which can directly irradiate laser light onto subcutaneous fat and efficiently remove fatty tissue with an adverse reaction on surrounding tissue minimized by using laser light at an oscillating wavelength of 1444 nm which has both a high fat absorptivity and a high water absorptivity among wavelengths that can be oscillated by the Nd:YAG laser. The Nd:YAG laser includes a flash lamp, a Nd:YAG rod, a high reflection mirror, an output coupler, a convergent lens for converging the laser light beam oscillating through the output coupler, an optical fiber for guiding the converged laser beam, and a guide needle for guiding the laser beam from the guide fiber to subcutaneous fat. Both end surfaces of the Nd:YAG rod, an inner surface of the high reflection mirror, and inner and outer surfaces of the output coupler are coated so as to oscillate only the laser beam at the wavelength of 1444 nm through the output coupler.

摘要: A light based skin treatment device comprises a laser light source for providing a pulsed incident light beam for treating skin by laser induced optical breakdown of hair or skin tissue. In one arrangement, a focusing system has a pre-focusing lens for increasing the convergence of the an incident light beam and a skin contact lens having convex light input and light exit surfaces. The focal spot position is controlled by adjusting a spacing between the pre-focusing lens and the skin contact lens. In another arrangement, there is an adjustable lens system before an adjustable focusing system for providing compensation for aberration in the adjustable focusing system.

摘要: An electro-mechanical-type handpiece is specially designed to be used with a laser Generator, particularly those that use a CO2 laser and provide a laser beam in fractional mode. The fractional mode laser beam is provided in a pattern of homogeneous points aligned in rows, columns or diagonally, and such a pattern allows internal tissue along an entire length of a vagina of a patient to be treated and a pelvic floor of the patient to be retracted, such that a urinary bladder of the patient is elevated and, owing to the change in angle thereof, slight or moderate losses of urine are resolved or improved. In addition, the device can be used to treat the inner surface of the vagina of the patient, reducing vaginal laxity caused by childbirth and age.

摘要: A tissue-treating portion of a surgical instrument includes a body defining a cavity and a light-energy transmissible sphere captured within the cavity such that a portion of the light-energy transmissible sphere protrudes from the body. The light-energy transmissible sphere is capable of unlimited rotation in all directions relative to the body. The light-energy transmission cable extends through the body to a position spaced-apart from the light-energy transmissible sphere. The light-energy transmission cable is configured to transmit light energy to the light-energy transmissible sphere. The light-energy transmissible sphere, in turn, is configured focus the light energy towards tissue to treat tissue.

摘要: A laser pulse energy control system which includes a laser source and a beam divider positioned to receive a calibration laser pulse produced by the laser source. The beam divider reflects a first portion of the calibration laser pulse along a first optical path toward a first plane and transmits a second portion of the calibration laser pulse along a second optical path toward a second plane. An energy meter determines an energy of the first portion of the calibration laser pulse at the first plane and a fluence profiler determines a fluence profile of the second portion of the calibration laser pulse at the second plane. The processor controls an energy of an ablation laser pulse produced by the laser source based on the fluence profile of the second portion of the calibration laser pulse and the energy of the first portion of the calibration laser pulse.

摘要: The invention provides an optical treatment system comprising a first optical window (20), a light source (14), a control unit (18) for controlling the light source (14) such that optical radiation at the first optical window (20) has at least one optical parameter with a predetermined first value, and comprising at least one transmitting adjustment member (30) having a second optical window (34) and being positionable such that optical radiation is emittable via the second optical window (34), said optical treatment system further comprising an optical parameter control means (36, 38; 42; 46, 48, 50; 52; 54) that is arranged to control said at least one optical parameter to have a predetermined second value at the second optical window (34). The optical parameter control means may be active, and influence the control unit (18) or light source (14), and/or passive, and influence the radiation emitted through the first optical window (20) by filtering, reflection, absorption, etc. Thus, the system is able to provide radiation having well known, predetermined and thus more reliable properties, even if the second window has a different shape or area or the radiation has been influenced otherwise.
