Methods utilize biodegradable, non-toxic materials that can carry one or more functionalities useful for the remediation of fluids such as liquid or gaseous waste streams, chemical spills, etc. The carrier materials carry one or more functional groups that can target particular contaminants of a fluid for removal and/or modification to a more benign form. Targeted contaminants can include components of gaseous and/or liquids such as, and without limitation, gaseous discharges including VOCs and potentially hazardous contaminants such as organophosphorous compounds.

    摘要: The present invention involves a fabrication of ventilation-fan-ammonia-gas-removal-device and dual-function-ammonia-gas-removal-and-air-cooling-equipment for application to livestock confined facilities. The former is installed on the wall of livestock confined facilities to remove ammonia gas from ventilating air and the latter is installed inside the livestock confined facilities to remove ammonia gas and to cool air, suspending from the ceiling of livestock confined facilities. They are fabricated by assembling several plastic-rod-screen-fills which are made with plastic rods. Water supplied from the top of devices, flowing down on the surface of rods, cools air or absorbs ammonia gas and water vapor by contacting with air traveling transversely to the descent of water on the surface of plastic rods by means of forced draft. The dual-function-ammonia-gas-removal-and-air-cooling-equipment has high ammonia gas removal and air cooling efficiencies and also the ventilation-fan-ammonia-gas-removal-device high ammonia gas removal efficiency. Their fabrication methods are described in the present invention.

    摘要: Improved compositions are disclosed that inhibit ammonia volatilization from poultry litter and other animal enclosures. In some variations, a composition for use in reducing ammonia generation in animal enclosures comprises metal sulfate, an organic acid with pKa of about 3 or higher, and optionally a buffer. In some variations, a composition for use in reducing ammonia generation in animal enclosures comprises metal sulfate, an inorganic acid with pKa of about 1 or higher, and a buffer. A method of reducing ammonia concentration in an animal enclosure (e.g., a chicken house) includes introducing any of the compositions described herein. In some embodiments, the animal enclosure is a chicken house. The ammonia concentration may be maintained below 50 ppm NH3, preferably below about 25 ppm NH3.
