Abstract:
System for supporting a plate heat exchanger (10, 100, 200) inside an isothermal chemical reactor (1), comprising a circumferential ring structure (40) fixed at least to top radial sides (19s) of the plates (11), said structure being formed as a single or double ring.
Abstract:
A method for preparing a non-thermal plasma reactor substrate includes disposing electrical vias on green stage first and second ceramic plates; filling the electrical vias with conductive material; and forming electrical contact via cover pads; disposing conductive material on the first ceramic plate to form an electrode plate having a main electrode portion and a terminal lead for electrically connecting the main electrode portion to the electrical vias; laminating the electrode plate and the second ceramic plate together, embedding the electrode therebetween; co-firing the plates to form a laminated co-fired embedded-conductor element; stacking a plurality of the laminated co-fired embedded-conductor elements to form a multi-cell stack, the filled electrical vias aligning in the stack to provide an electrical bus for connecting alternating elements in the stack; and disposing spacers with matching vias and via cover pads between adjacent pairs of elements to form exhaust gas passages.
Abstract:
A thermally integrated two-stage methanol reformer including a heat exchanger and first and second reactors colocated in a common housing in which a gaseous heat transfer medium circulates to carry heat from the heat exchanger into the reactors. The heat transfer medium comprises principally hydrogen, carbon dioxide, methanol vapor and water vapor formed in a first stage reforming reaction. A small portion of the circulating heat transfer medium is drawn off and reacted in a second stage reforming reaction which substantially completes the reaction of the methanol and water remaining in the drawn-off portion. Preferably, a PrOx reactor will be included in the housing upstream of the heat exchanger to supplement the heat provided by the heat exchanger.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a reactor-exchanger or an exchanger comprising at least 3 levels, each of which includes at least one region with millimeter channels promoting heat exchange and at least one distribution region upstream and/or downstream of the region with millimeter channels, characterized in that the reactor-exchanger or exchanger is a unit that has no mounting interfaces between the various levels.
Abstract:
Reactor installation tools and methods for installing reactor components in a reactor tube are described herein. A reactor installation tool can include a releasable attachment assembly for securing the tool to a reactor or support for holding reactor components. The tool can include a movable cylinder that can be actuated to engage and push on a reactor component in an interior region of the reactor for positioning the contents of the reactor in a desired location. The tool can further include means for supply blasts of compressed gas to an interior region of the reactor to aid in the expansion and positioning of the reactor contents. A skirt seal can be used to ensure that the blasts of compressed gas are contained in the interior region of the reactor.
Abstract:
A method for assembling a polycarbonate manufacturing apparatus comprising a plurality of apparatus elements, the method comprising:
protecting an opening of each apparatus element, wherein the apparatus element is prepared as follows: at least a portion of a metal surface that comes into contact with an internal fluid of the apparatus element is polished with an abrasive corresponding to buff #400, and the polished metal surface is washed until becoming a state where no dirt is attached to a nonwoven fabric in a test of contact between the metal surface and the nonwoven fabric; and connecting the opening of the apparatus element to the opening of another apparatus element within a dust cover.

Abstract:
A system for the water vapor reforming of a hydrocarbon includes a modular reactor unit of the plate stack and/or tube bundle type that, in an integrated manner, contains an evaporator, a prereforming unit, a main reformer, a CO removal unit and a catalytic burner unit. The evaporator and the main reformer are in a thermal contact with the catalytic burner unit and, the prereforming unit is in a thermal contact with the CO removal unit.
