摘要: A system for forming a fluid connection includes a first connector and a second connector. Both connectors include a tubular body having a membrane mounted on a distal end thereof. A support member facilitates the coupling of the connectors together so that the membranes are abutted together. Radiant energy is applied to the abutted membranes so as to first sterilize the membranes and then melt the membranes so that a passage is formed therethrough.

摘要: Semi-columnar shaped convex portions are formed on external areas of respective resin lens plates. One semi-columnar shaped convex portion and two semi-columnar shaped convex portions are formed at the top surface of the bottom resin lens plate and the bottom surface of the top resin lens plate, respectively. Then, the top resin lens plate and the bottom resin lens plate are temporarily fixed by matching the one semi-columnar shaped convex portion into the area between the two semi-columnar shaped convex portions. Then, after the temporal fixing, the joints of the resin lens plates are heated and melted to form a welding portion. Then, the top and bottom resin lens plate are welded tightly via the welding portion.

摘要: The method for manufacturing rimless spectacles provides a connection region between the lens and the rimless supporting structure wherein the connection region includes a radiation absorbing dye having a predetermined wavelength absorbing band. The lens and rimless supporting structures are then joined together, and the radiation absorbing dye is irradiated by a source of radiation operating at a wavelength within the predetermined wavelength band. Once exposed, the lens and rimless supporting structure are fused together.

摘要: An inflatable bladder system for applying generally uniform pressure to parts being welded to insure proper contact at the welding interface includes a first sheet that is generally transparent to electromagnetic radiation to allow such radiation to pass therethrough. This electromagnetic radiation serves to heat the parts to a temperature sufficient to create a weld. The inflatable bladder also includes a second sheet that is also generally transparent to electromagnetic radiation. The second sheet is coupled to the first sheet to create a sealed volume therebetween. Fluid is selectively introduced into the sealed volume in order to expand the bladder into engagement with the parts being welded to exert a generally uniform pressure thereon.

摘要: A filter for absorbing electromagnetic radiation which is used in heating a welding zone wherein a first part is joined to a second part. The filter includes a solid material for absorbing undesired wavelengths of radiation from a heating source before the radiation reaches the welding zone. The filter also has a housing which contains a chamber within which a fluid is placed. The fluid cools the solid material and also may absorb undesired wavelengths of radiation from the heating source before the radiation reaches the welding zone. A heat exchanger is connected to the filter in order to cool the fluid during the filtering process.

摘要: A method and article for microwave bonding of thermoplastic pipe such as that used in the distribution of natural gas. The article is a composite bonding material (CBM) having a thermoplastic matrix (preferably polyethylene) which is miscible with the thermoplastic material of the pipe, and a plurality of microwave susceptor particles dispersed throughout the matrix. The preferred susceptors have improved heating properties whereby the total amount of metal oxide material in the CBM is about 1/10 of 1% by weight. A strip or sleeve is fashioned from the CBM and may be used, with or without a coupling, to join two pipes or repair ruptures. The method includes positioning of the article at the pipe joint or rupture, and application of microwave energy in an amount sufficient to heat the susceptors and cause both the CBM matrix and the adjacent portion of the pipe to melt and flow together, thereby producing a fusion bond.

摘要: The disclosure relates to reversible bonded structural joints using active adhesive compositions that can allow for dis-assembly, repair, and re-assembly. The disclosure is particularly directed to the adhesive composition material, irrespective of the type of the substrate(s) being joined. The adhesive composition can include any thermoplastic adhesive material that can be remotely activated for targeted heating of just the adhesive composition (e.g., and not the surrounding substrates being joined) via the inclusion of electromagnetically excitable particles in the adhesive composition. The substrates can be any metal material, any composite material, any hybrid material, or otherwise. The disclosed adhesive compositions allow for recyclability of parts at the end of their lifetime and repair/replacement of parts during their lifetime.
