摘要: A composite flame barrier includes at least one layer of nonwoven flame resistant fibers, and at least one layer of heat absorbing intumescing expandable graphite held together with polymeric binders and fire resistant fibers in a sheet structure. The composite material provides thermal protection that cannot be achieved using the expandable graphite is alone. By mechanically attaching a nonwoven felt or hydro-entangled nonwoven material to the layer containing expandable graphite, the graphite becomes stabilized and is more resistant to forces that may damage the material (wind, high velocity flames etc.) and decrease or eliminate the thermal performance of the expandable graphite. The composite flame barrier is useful in applications where prolonged fire and heat resistance is required, and has an advantage of being flexible and lightweight. The uses for the material include emergency portable fire shelters, structural protection of aircraft, structural steel fire proofing, fire-rated wall assemblies, and other fire-resistant applications.

摘要: Methods for forming a touch fastening material are described as including: providing a lengthwise-incoherent layer of staple fibers supported directly on a bed of bristle tips of a brush; needling the layer of staple fibers by cycling needles through the layer of staple fibers and into the brush; then, while the needled layer of staple fibers remains supported on the brush, fusing portions of the staple fibers by at least partially melting resin of the fibers disposed outside the brush; and then pulling the layer of fibers from the brush as a lengthwise-coherent touch fastening material having exposed fastening loops pulled from between the brush bristles.

摘要: A sheet of nonwoven fabric which has surface irregularities, the shape of the surface irregularities being less apt to be changed by external pressure, etc. The sheet has a machine, cross and thickness directions which are perpendicular to one another. The upper surface has a plurality of protrusions continuously extending, in parallel, in the cross direction and further has a plurality of recesses that are located between the adjacent protrusions and extend in the cross direction. The sheet includes first and second fibrous layers located on the upper-surface side and the lower-surface side, respectively. The first fibrous layer comprises heat-fusible fibers, and the second fibrous layer comprises coil-shaped three-dimensional crimp fibers that are oriented mainly in the machine direction and form a network by entanglement thereof without having been fused at the sites where the crimp fibers cross one another.
