摘要: In one example, a load-bearing, three-dimensional printed part resists a load. The load-bearing part has a load-receiving member, a support member, and a network of interconnected branches. The load-receiving member has an outer surface that receives the load. The support member is offset from the load-receiving member along a first direction. The network of interconnected branches extends from the load-receiving member to the support member, and includes a first primary branch and an auxiliary branch. The first primary branch has a first primary-branch end attached to one of the load-receiving member and the support member. The auxiliary branch has a first auxiliary-branch end attached to the first primary branch, and a second auxiliary-branch end attacked to one of (i) the load-receiving member, (ii) the support member, and (iii) a second primary branch.

摘要: A bumper module for a vehicle includes at least one shaped part that is unitarily deep-drawn from a sheet material. The shaped part has two connecting flanges facing a back side for fastening to side members of the vehicle and an arch which is pre-curved towards a front side connecting the connecting flanges. At least in lateral portions of the arch, the sheet material is laid into folds, which are elongated from the back side towards the front side.

摘要: One-piece, integrated vehicle fascia and energy absorbers and methods of forming the same are disclosed. The one-piece vehicle fascia may include a fascia body and an energy absorber integrally formed with the fascia body. The energy absorber may include an open lattice portion including at least one lattice wall extending rearward from a front portion of the fascia body and adjoining at least two open cells. The lattice wall thickness may be smaller at a front portion of the energy absorber than at a rear portion. The open lattice portion may be formed as a honeycomb structure. The one-piece, integrated vehicle fascia and energy absorber may be formed by an additive manufacturing process (e.g., 3D printing). The process may include building the one-piece vehicle fascia in a plurality of successive layers each having a uniform thickness.

摘要: A mold for producing a vehicle bumper fascia and methods for releasing the bumper fascia are provided. The mold includes a core mold half having a primary mold core. A first movable mold core is slidingly engaged to the primary mold core. A second movable mold core is slidingly engaged to the first movable mold core. A third movable mold core is slidingly engaged to the second movable mold core. Portions of the primary mold core and the movable mold cores together define cavities for forming the mounting rib, a wing portion, and a wheel well flange of the bumper fascia. Methods of releasing the bumper fascia include the steps of providing the mold, disengaging the movable mold cores from each other and from the primary mold core.

摘要: The present bumper impact beam includes pultruding polymer (e.g. thermoset polymer, preferably polyurethane) into continuous reinforcement (preferably carbon fibers or glass fibers), the reinforcement including fabrics selectively positioned and extending around corners for improved impact strength. The beam preferably has a 50%-70% fiber volume fraction that is relatively uniform throughout the part. A curved cooling support and/or beam design may be used to cause the cooled beam to have a sweep.

摘要: A vehicle component is provided that includes a first cured layer of a molding composition having a predominant fiber filler chopped glass fibers, a second cured layer of molding composition having a predominant fiber filler chopped carbon fibers, and a bonding agent with elongation properties configured to accommodate the differential coefficients of linear thermal expansion between the first cured layer and the second cured layer. The second cured layer is substantially devoid of glass fiber. The bonding agent is an elastomeric adhesive, which is operative from −40 to 205° C. The first cured layer forms an outer skin layer surface of a vehicle and the second cured layer forms an interior layer, where the outer skin layer surface has a class-A finish.
