Abstract:
The presence of an electrically-powered quiet vehicle is accomplished by determining a state of mind or physical state of the driver, determining the presence and proximity of humans and other objects, how the vehicle is being operated and generating a noise correlative to the threat posed by the vehicle to humans and other objects.
Abstract:
Two or more quiet vehicles traveling together sense each other and communicate to each other the condition of the respective drivers of the vehicles and announce their presence to pedestrians and other motorists using noise sounds. The characteristics of the emitted sounds are selected according to a level of threat presented by the quiet vehicles.
Abstract:
An enclosure expansion type virtual engine sound system is provided. The system includes an enclosure case having a case enclosure accommodating a speaker to which a virtual engine sound is output and an enclosure back beam with an internal space divided into a speaker enclosure and a expanded enclosure as an extended space of the case enclosure for low band amplification of the engine sound and a space in which the engine sound is output in three directions. Accordingly, the enclosure back beam implements a low band amplification function in addition to a crash absorbing function. The engine sound is output in three directions through an internal space of the enclosure back beam, thereby solving a space restriction of a narrow engine room while satisfying regulations of the speaker.
Abstract:
A portable wheelchair is easily convertible between a conventional or street wheelchair and a specialty wheelchair through the use of conversion components, some of which are mounted permanently to the wheelchair and some of which are received by the mounted conversion components. In one form, the portable specialty wheelchair is a portable beach wheelchair while in another form the portable specialty wheelchair is an all-terrain wheelchair or trail chair. Preferably, but not necessarily, the portable convertible wheelchair is foldable in order to provide added versatility. In one form, the beach wheelchair includes right and left rear wheels having oversized, low pressure tires that replace the original rear wheels. Right and left front brackets are mounted to the existing frame and are configured to receive right and left wheel assemblies, having smaller, low pressure tires mounted for pivoting movement.
Abstract:
A motor vehicle having at least one sound generating system for generating an artificial engine noise, which has at least one electrically controllable vibration exciter, wherein the vibration exciter is fastened to a component that is acoustically and/or vibrationally decoupled from a body of the motor vehicle. The component is retained on the motor vehicle by a retaining device, which covers the component at least to a large extent. By means of this measure, the acoustic properties of the sound-generating system can be significantly improved.
Abstract:
A high deflection and laterally stable pneumatic tire comprises a trapezoidal structure defined in an unloaded cross section passing through an axis of the tire and delimiting a tire interior. The structure is configured with a tread portion, a widest tire region at or near the tread portion, two opposed, substantially straight sidewalls extending obliquely from a corresponding lateral end of the tread portion, and a bead at a corresponding terminal end of each of the sidewalls which is engageable with a rim of the tire. Axial bead spacing between two of the beads and defining a width of the rim is significantly less than a width of the tread portion, so as to generate a footprint which engages an underlying ground surface by a substantially uniform pressure during high deflection conditions.

Abstract:
A vehicle approach warning apparatus outputting a warning sound signal for outputting a warning sound, and generating the warning sound according to the warning sound signal from a speaker, and notifying a pedestrian around a vehicle that the vehicle approaches to the pedestrian is provided. The vehicle approach warning apparatus includes a memory portion, a signal generation portion, a level adjustment portion, a signal synthesizing portion, and an amplifier. The memory portion stores a first sound source data for generating a signal of a low frequency component, and a second sound source data for generating a signal of a high frequency component. The signal generation portion generates the signal of the low frequency component, and the signal of the high frequency component. The level adjustment portion adjusts a level of the signal of the low frequency component and the high frequency component.
Abstract:
A wheel assembly for a surface vehicle is presented. The wheel assembly comprises a tire comprising an envelope structure which by its inner surface encloses a cavity. The envelope structure comprises an outer, surface-engaging side having a circumferential surface, and opposite side walls which are integral with and extend from the surface-engaging side. The sides walls by their free ends define an inner, rim-engagement side of the tire by which the tire is connectable to a wheel hub. Each of the opposite side walls comprises a surface pattern defining a suspension assembly within the side wall to thereby prevent stretching of the tire envelope towards its maximal volume when the envelope is compressed with gas, while allowing deformation of the tire envelope when loaded or depressurized such that the surface engaging side of the tire maintains a substantially constant contact with the surface.
Abstract:
A vehicle approach alert device includes: a microcomputer having a memory that stores approach alert sound data, and a signal generator that generates an approach alert sound voltage waveform signal based on the approach alert sound data. The vehicle approach alert device alerts approach of a vehicle by outputting a vehicle approach alert sound from a sound outputting body according to the approach alert sound voltage waveform signal. The microcomputer further includes: an obtaining device that obtains a sound outputting body temperature; and a sound pressure correcting device that corrects a voltage level of the approach alert sound voltage waveform signal to be larger as the sound outputting body temperature increases.
