Abstract: A lighting system of a vehicle may include light units and controllers for operating the light units. Each light unit is multifunctional in that the light unit may operate in various modes, which may be invoked at different times under varying circumstances. A light unit on the first end of a vehicle may operate as a headlight if the first end is the front end of the vehicle. On the other hand, the light unit may operate as a tail light if the first end is the rear end of the vehicle. Furthermore, the light unit may operate as a turn signal in either direction or brake light while the first end is the rear end of the vehicle. The light unit includes a lens array positioned to receive light from various light sources. The lighting system may operate in a fashion that allows for lighting redundancy on each end of the vehicle in the event of a lighting controller failure.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for configuring automotive lamp illumination control are provided. One example method includes, at a computing device, generating a graphical user interface for configuring at an automotive lamp illumination pattern. The graphical user interface includes user input elements and is displayed by way of a display device. An input command is received by way of at least one of the plurality of user input elements. The input command corresponds to the at least one of the user input elements. A message is transmitted to an automotive lamp control device by way of a communication path including a first communication port of the computing device and a second communication port of the automotive lamp control device, based on the received input command. The message is received at the automotive lamp control device, and an action is performed in response to receiving the message.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method and system for automatic control of a headlight of a vehicle by a mobile computing device. The mobile computing device receives vehicle related information and external information associated with the mobile computing device, where the mobile computing device is associated with an operator of the vehicle and is communicatively coupled with vehicle. Further, the mobile computing device computes an intensity and an orientation of a headlight of the vehicle based on one or more vehicle lighting patterns, where said vehicle lighting patterns are generated based on behavior of the headlight of the vehicle, which is operated by the operator, for a pre-defined duration in association with the vehicle related information and external information and provides computed intensity and orientation of the headlight of the vehicle to a lighting control module of the vehicle for automatic control of the headlight of the vehicle.

Abstract: Apparatus and systems are disclosed for detecting outages in an LED lamp assembly. An example disclosed lamp assembly includes a plurality of LED circuits serially connected together. The LED circuits include an LED, a first resistor and an optocoupler. The example disclosed lamp assembly also includes a sense line electrically coupled to one of the LED circuits. The sense line has a first voltage value when all of LEDs in that plurality of LED circuits are operational and a second voltage value when at least one of the LEDs has failed.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides an automotive lamp, and more particularly, to an automotive lamp capable of informing an ambient vehicle approaching from one side behind the vehicle of a vehicle state by irradiating light of a road pattern to indicate the vehicle state to an area behind the vehicle. The automotive lamp includes a lamp unit disposed in a rear lamp housing of a vehicle and a detection unit configured to detect whether a reverse shift stage is selected. The lamp unit is configured to irradiate a first light distribution pattern that forms a reversing light signal pattern in the rearward direction of the vehicle, and a second light distribution pattern that forms a road pattern on the rearward road surface of the vehicle. The first light distribution pattern and the second light distribution pattern are formed simultaneously, when the reverse shift stage is selected.
