A method and apparatus for controlling an electric motor. An electric motor apparatus has an electric motor with motor stator windings, a battery, battery control module coupled to the battery and configured to monitor and detect a state of the battery, and a motor control unit coupled to the battery and the batter control module and being configured to select an operation of the electric motor based on a signal from the battery control module representing the state of the battery. The motor control unit selects a normal motor control operation, a power dissipation motor control operation, or a discharge operation. During the power dissipation motor control operation, power from brake torque is dissipated in the motor stator windings of the electric motor.

A method and system for controlling charging and discharging for a hybrid vehicle that may consume regenerative electric power collected by a motor through regenerative braking while coasting the hybrid vehicle when operating an integrated starter-generator (ISG) according to a state of charge (SOC) of a battery. The method of controlling charging and discharging for a hybrid vehicle which includes a motor operated by power of a battery and an ISG configured to start an engine or generate electric power by torque of the engine includes: changing a running mode of the hybrid vehicle to a regenerative braking mode when the hybrid vehicle is coasting, controlling the motor to generate electric power in the regenerative braking mode, determining whether an SOC of the battery is a charge limiting state, and operating the ISG by electric power generated by the motor when the SOC of the battery is the charge limiting state.

A driving force control device for a hybrid vehicle includes: a travel load calculation unit adapted to divide a predicted route from a current position to a predetermined distance ahead into a plurality of intervals, and to estimate a travel load in each interval; a recommended discharge amount calculation unit adapted to search for a regeneration possible interval, in which a travel condition required by a driver can be maintained even when an output of an internal combustion engine is stopped and regeneration is performed by a motor/generator, from an estimation result, and to estimate a charge amount expected value in the regeneration possible interval, and distributes the charge amount expected value preferentially to an adjacent interval to the regeneration possible interval as a recommended discharge amount in order to stop the output of the internal combustion engine; and an energy management unit that controls an operation of the motor/generator in the current position on the basis of a travel condition, a state of charge, and the recommended discharge amount in the current position.

A hybrid vehicle includes a controller that executes control such that a second motor is regeneratively driven within the range of input and output limits of a high-voltage battery that exchanges electric power with the second motor that outputs power for traveling without running an engine using a first motor when charging electric power is smaller than the input limit of the high-voltage battery and an EV traveling priority mode is set. The invention also relates to a control method for the hybrid vehicle.
